yeah West Ox and Western really need new buses. But Andrews could’ve taken all of Northern buses except all the Blue DE40LFAs and probably given 6468-6472. But West Ox could take some 2016 XDE40s and probably newer buses too.

Also 5462 is currently running on Route Z6.

Well was running

Well... there is a #1012 for PRTC's new Gillig BRT fleet. Saw it late in the afternoon yesterday deadheading north on 1-95 by Lorton.

P.S. West Ox used to have #6430-6439 for the now defunct 28X. But that was back in 2014-2015 or so.

Western also used to hire MetroExtra routes before the 37 moved to Montgomery full time. I do wish we got more MetroExtra routes though, we have current proposals in the 80X (helps Route 80), Q9 (helping the Q routes), 99 (helping the 90/92). They could also do some Metroexta routes for the F4 (boy that Route gets packed so much at riverdale), C2/C4, Y lines, and probably convert some routes into Metroextra routes like the 11Y imo.

also some routes that could use tics are the 16 Lines, 11Y, 50s lines, 90/92, NH1/NH2 during the summer seasons, A2/A6/A7/A8/A9, F4, X1/X3. Some darkhorse routes for tics could be G12/G14 and T18 during after school hours and a couple other routes that idk

As it stands, Cinder Bed only has 3 buses working right now,  2 on the REX, so the commute must be a nightmare.

Also MTA Baltimore's NOVA buses are in service now.

Metro's remaining Orion VII CNGs were in full force this pass weekend. #2706, #2717, #2724, #3004 and #3027 were out on the 3A, 16A, 25B, and 74 in that order on ETA  on Saturday (and I personally saw #2717 working the 16A).

I believe 2636 and 2640 are possibly retired and all 2006 Orion VIIs still in service but I might be wrong on that. Also 6147, 6149, 6150, 6153, 6154, 6156, 6158, 6159, 6171 (Montgomery’s former D40LFRs) are all at Andrews division now with 6173 going to Western and 6192-6204. It’s also safe to say the Orion Vs are officially retired from passenger service and only are used for reserve and shuttles.

I kinda figured they were basically retired now. I don't know if anymore CNGs got retired recently. Does Montgomery depot have anymore LFRs?

Waste of a still fairly young Orion V. Also, is that a 2007 Phantom there too?

Montgomery doesn’t have anymore D40LFR as all of them are at Andrews division now except 6173 which is at Western, 2636, 2640, 2641 are still active as I thought they are retired. And yeah Orion Vs are reserve and most likely will never carry passengers again unless one bus model is taken out of service for inspections.

Aren’t Dash’s Orion V just from 2007 as well?

I knew this was coming. This is going to be a total shitshow. 2 different bus strikes from 2 different bus systems that overlap in the same areas has to suck. I'm glad I have a car! Any updates on the WMATA strike?

Least I don’t live in Virginia but now Transdev is in the most trouble. WMATA should just get back the rights for Cinder Bed and Fairfax Connector should get another operator.

Artics should run on...the X3

I can think of at least two times in the past I've seen an artic on the X3: Once in 2005 (Ikarus 436) and once in 2011 (NABI 60BRT)  Actually rode the latter case, was a bit bizarre to be on given how this was on the NW portion of the route far from their regular home on the X2.

Conversely, the last time I was in DC (this past September) I saw a 30' Orion VII CNG on the X3. Total grabbag route.

Yeah Blade would put anything on any route. Yesterday 5475 was on the D4 lmao. Wouldn’t be surprised if a tic would end up on routes that uses smaller buses from Blade like the B8/B9, H6, or U4.

X3 could use some tics since Shepherd Parkway has them but they’re primarily used for the W4. However sometimes an XDE60 would end up on the X1.

Also Fairfax Connector and Transdev reached an agreement and regular service is expected to resume tomorrow morning unless some BS happens.

Just got word that Royal street Depot will be demolished starting in January. For those who want to get final pics, now is the time!

They're probably retiring based on their mechanical and physical (frame) condition as opposed to age. If a 2002 Orion is more reliable than a 2007, then there's no point in keeping the 2007. Only benefits that you'd get from retaining the 2007 would be a slightly lower (overall) average fleet age and mileage which is nice but at the end of the day, dispatchers, drivers, maintenance, the budget, and passengers are going to prefer the more reliable bus.

2006 Orion VII CNG #2658 is on the 25B right now heading to Southern Towers. Haven't seen that bus in months.

Also spotted 2009 New Flyer DE42LFA of Cinder Bed working the 29K last night, missing it's rear #. Is the strike still ongoing or what? Connector is back.

2658 and 2673 the last regular local 2006 Orion Vs in service other than the 2700s. Also Cinder Bed is still on strike but 6376 is back at Shepherd Parkway and 17H returned to service on 12/16. Cinder bed buses haven’t had Working trackers much since the strike started though. Also 2907-2909 from FMR were moved back to Bladensburg and 2626-2628 are most likely retired (unsure about 2680-2681 as those haven’t been on trackers for a while but 2684-2685 are still in service). Also 6147 and 6137 is at Western and 6149, 6150, 6153, 6154, 6156, 6158, and 6159 are at Andrews but I believe are barely used.

What's the status of the C40LFRs? Are they still at FMR or what? Also, saw a 2018 XN40 near Cinder Bed depot last night (IIRC #3156), traveling NIS to I-95 north. Are #2626, #2627, and #2628 really retired?

All C40LFRs they won't go anywhere for another year or two. 2801-2821 are at Blade and 2822-2825 are at FMR. Idk about 2626-2628 as I haven' t seen those on the tracker in a while.
