Greyhound in the news

I think I've seen other scheduling and fare blackouts with the hound. It's very common in travel and transportation field to have fare black outs during peak travel periods. Why discount fares when you know there will be lots of people travelling anyway, it maximises revenue & profit.

Makes alot of sense, And Christmas along with all other holidays/long weekends

is always blackouts for a certain period!

MERRITT, B.C. — Snowy roads and a broken down vehicle appear to have combined to cause the crash of a Greyhound bus on the Coquihalla Highway north of Merritt, B.C., early Monday.

Greyhound spokesman Timothy Stokes said the bus was carrying 42 passengers. He said just one person was hurt.

He said the bus was on a trip from Vancouver to Prince George when the accident happened shortly before 1 a.m. near Logan Lake.

Reason to get to the bus stop early so you know you will get a seat! Im glad Megabus/Coach Canada/Coach USA dont over sell.

I doubt the time she got to the stop is a factor in this case. Red Deer isn't that busy of a stop, the buses travel between Calgary and Edmonton with Red Deer about half way through the route. So if they over sell the seats in Edmonton or Calgary, this above case would happen.

The Trips system doesnt let u sell more than the bus can carry. However if a driver takes a passenger with a ticket with a different time then that would be an Issue!! And Red Deer to Edmonton has only 6 buses a day 3am,955am,315pm,555pm,750 and 955pm. They all run Daily. All the Rest of the schedules run Only Edmonton-Edmonton Sout-Calgary as Greyhound Express!

It's also an insurance issue because the bus is only insured for the seats numbered not standees.

That is ONE of the conditions that has to be met in order to be allowed to take standees. Greyhound must be insured for standees, There can be no bags on or under seats, no bags in the aisle, passengers standing must have a hand hold other than the seat, and there is a time limit as to how long a passenger can stand for.

hi everybody there was a crash bettween a greyhound bus and a car last night in cambridge driver of the car was a fatality link on the bottom.

Oh no! Thoughts and prayers to those involved.

Interesting that Greyhound responded to this incident, but I have not seen any response posted about the other incidents that have been posted in this thread...
