Anyone know why the Heavy Rescue has been running out of Station 1 for the past little while?

Past couple of times I've been by, its been in the middle bay usually used by EMS.

Are you sure that wasn't the High-Rise unit you saw in Station 1?? I Don't think they would have #9 Heavy downtown, because you have #2 Rescue downtown as well

Pretty sure it was the heavy rescue, High Rise is running out of 10 is'nt it?

And to further add to it, last weekend, there was an incident just east of 8th st on 10 ave. Not to sure what Engine was on scene and it looked like just a run of the mill crash, but sure enough Heavy Rescue came by after running south down 8th

Well this is very interesting to say the least, that would probably mean that Rescue 2 has been moved if the Heavy Rescue is in fact now at Station 1. I heard there was a third truck in Station 1.. but I never would have expected it to be the 9 Heavy's Truck!! would you happen to know if the Heavy Rescue Support truck is in Station 1 also??

huh I thought CFD would have up-dated that truck.. but then again that truck that you saw could have also been a spare Bush Buggy. So in Station 2, theres just Engine 2, Engine 49, Rescue 2, the command post and a couple of medics?? and do you happen to know when Station 6 got a medic in it?, Thanks!!!

Managed to capture Aerial #8 on 10th Avenue just west of Centre St. in the S.W. yesterday afternoon. She is unit #A06-93 and is painted in the red livery. Pretty sure this is a repaint as this one should have been in the older yellow livery IIRC.

Good catch BCT-3122-D800-10240!!! That truck is actually currently running as #1 Aerial... the numbering on the truck hasn't been changed over to "1 Aerial" because Station #1 is slated to get a new 105' Smeal Aerial hopefully in the next few weeks and this truck should be entering the spare pool... On a side note, A0693 is painted red because the entire truck was refurbished in the early 2000's I believe?

This is #1 Quint's new truck.... All the new Aerials are called Quints now because they each have a 2250gpm pump and hose on them. They are all supposed to run with 6 firefighters. This is because every station that has one of these Quints has either a Bush Buggy or an Aquatics Rescue vehicle at the station as well... So if a call for the BB or the Aquatics truck comes in, 2 or 3 firefighters from the Quint (or if man power is lacking.. associated Engine company that is housed at the station) can staff those trucks and still have 3 or 4 firefighters left on the Quint to act as a basic Aerial or as in Stations #21 & #30 a Engine with a 105' foot stick on top.

Does anyone know the story on these two vehicles?

I am not sure what these two units are used for. They look like EMS units, but they are numbered in the Calgary Fire Department's numbering system. They are both parked at the CFD Maintainance Facility in Vista Hights N.E.

I have wondered about that as well. Both units do look like EMS units.. but they are labelled EM 03 07 and EM 04 09. So there has to be 2 more of these vehicles somewhere.. CFD doesn't runs the "EM" logo in there fleet. I think these could possible be X - Airdrie EMS
