Bike Rack Buses

vicinity

Recommended Posts

I thought i would be interesting to track buses as the gain and loose the bike racks. It sparked my attention when 7574 lossed its bike rack

and 8080 got one so i think it would be a good idea to track these units and as more become equipped.

routes 1,6,7,15,20,28,29,52,56,79,80,83,92,96 are bike rack bus routes however recently the route 1 hasnt seen bike rack units.

7963 also with a bike rack, 7550 without one as of last week.

The AG bike rack routes (15, 28, 29, 52, 56, 79, 80, 83, 92, 96) don't see bike-racked buses regularly on their all-day runs- they often have 7600s.

6061, 6062, and 6063 all have bike racks. I don't think there are any others.
Those are the only 3 Artics with bike racks that I know of as well.

Noticed today that 7578 was parked at the north fence today at SG and it does not have a bike rack anymore.

I seem to recall that 7836 has a bike rack as well now as well as 7845.

They are, but the bus assignments out of AG are still fairly random... not to mention that a number of the winnipeggers with bike racks (the most likely bike rack buses out of AG to see all-day service) get put on the 3 rather than those routes.

That's true, they are.

Also, I was going through my pictures this weekend and found one from a about 2 weeks ago of 7865 with a bike rack.

i was wondering what the rule is if a bike rack equipped bus shows up on a non bike rack route i.e is a person allowed to use the rack or no .

Here in Ottawa if a bike rack equipped bus shows up on say the 262 the rack can be used.

thanks

Which of the D60LFR's have bike racks? I know theres at least a couple

On CT's website 6060 has a rack and the bike rack routes have been chopped down to 3 for a one year trial .

Yes. I have had Bike rack equipped buses many times on routes that are non-bike rack assigned routes and have had a few people use them.

Hmm... This is interesting. For several years now, the route 1, 6, 7, among others were offering bike racks on the buses. I have noticed the route 1's have been the best in terms of having the bike racks used, so I find it odd that they are no longer offered on that route. The 6 and 7 also did get bike rack usage as well, but not quite as much as the route 1 from what I have found.

Interesting that they've chosen the 36/41 for bike rack service- does that mean that they will be 100% low-floor now? (except for the shuttle trips on the 36 on sunday nights)? I haven't been paying attention to what's been on those routes, but I know that the 36 still has 2 HF runs scheduled per weekday, and the 41 has 1.

EDIT: Also saw 7571 parked at Anderson today (26th) without a bike rack.
