YRT-Guy
http://www.parkbus.ca/index.php Parkbus is a non-profit initiative started in 2010 by a group of outdoor enthusiasts, with an ambitious goal of making the most popular Ontario parks accessible by bus. We decided to start small with a pilot project that would connect Toronto and Algonquin Provincial Park. Getting in touch first with Moutain Equipment Coop who provided us with an opportunity to conduct market research through their Toronto store, we created a plan and presented it to Ontario Parks. After meeting with Algonquin's senior team and working through the details of our plan with them, we partnered with Great Canadian Coaches to make this service a reality. Ontario Parks and Algonquin's team continue to provide their invaluable support for this project. We are also very thankful to Justin Lafontaine, the project director of popular BikeTrain.ca project. Justin's early advice was crucial to getting this project off the ground.
Bus Operator - Great Canadian Holidays and Coaches Inc.
Great Canadian Holidays and Coaches Inc. (website) is owned and operated by Lorna and Larry Hundt. Together they have over 60 years of experience in the group travel field. After working with various tour operators and coach companies in Ontario, they began a new company of their own, Travel Ventures, in 1984, and in 1998 changed the company name to Great Canadian Holidays and Coaches.
Is this service needed?
According to the survey, which we conducted with the generous help of Mountain Equipment Coop in Toronto, the bus service between Canada's largest city and its premier outdoors destination is long overdue. 94.9% of respondents (MEC customers) who do not own a car indicated that they would be interested in such service. Over 1,000,000 Torontonians live in households without a car according to StatsCan, and have very few options when it comes to visiting our parks. The potential demand is obvious. Moreover, 35.6% of our survey respondents who own a car, indicated that they would be interested in an environmentally-friendly alternative to the wasteful car travel. Prevost
If the partner is with Great Canadian Holidays and Coaches, then how come in the gallery we only see Hammond Transportation buses, but not a single one of Great Canadian Holidays and Coaches buses?
