What Customers Need to Know in the Event of a City Transit Service Interruption

The contract between SEPTA and the Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 234 City Transit Division is set to expire at 12 Midnight, October 31, 2016. SEPTA and the Union continue to meet in an effort to negotiate a new contract and avoid any disruption to City bus, trolley, trackless trolley, and Market Frankford and Broad Street Line/Broad Ridge Spur Line services.

In the event that City Transit service is disrupted when the current contract expires, our alternate service plan could go into effect as early as the start of service on Tuesday, November 1st. The most current information will be posted here on the SEPTA website and we also suggest checking local media outlets for news updates.

For travel within the City of Philadelphia, the only service option will be Regional Rail so it is important to look at the Service Interruption Guide to see if your travel needs can be accommodated.

As our daily Regional Rail riders know, service is already operating at near capacity. All Regional Rail Lines will operate according to the current published timetables with some adjustments, such as Express trains making additional stops to accommodate the anticipated increase in riders.

We ask everyone to be prepared for very crowded trains and travel inconveniences. If at all possible, we would encourage individuals and businesses to consider adjusting their work/business hours, in the event of a service interruption. This may help to make your trip just a little bit more comfortable.

We also need to remind customers of the changes they will encounter at our Center City Stations (Temple, Jefferson, Suburban, 30th St., University City) during evening travel hours (2:45 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.), in the event of a service interruption. To ensure your safety and to avoid platform crowding, customers will be asked to wait in line at the concourse level at these stations. ALL prepaid fares will be collected prior to boarding the train and all passes will be subject to inspection and validation by SEPTA fare collection personnel staff. Customers without a prepaid fare must purchase a ticket or Pass from a Station Sales window before they get in line for their trip home - the SEPTA fare collection staff cannot accept cash.

SEPTA understands how important our service is to you and your family and we will make every effort to assist you. SEPTA Ambassadors will be working at the Center City Regional Rail Stations in the PM to answer travel questions and help customers but it is important to remember if Transit services are not in operation it may not be possible to complete your trip.

For complete details on SEPTA service during a City Transit Service Interruption, please refer to the Service Interruption Guide below, pick up a copy of our "Travel Tips For Customers in the Event of a City Transit Service Interruption" brochure, or contact SEPTA Customer Service at 215-580-7800.

Sorry, I haven't post anything a while.

Here's a few video of SEPTA Buses, Trains, and Subway in action in November 2016

Also after the year 2016 the Rail Service was chaos caused by lack of train crews as well as Silverliner V out of service interupting train runs, SEPTA looks to a fresh start in 2017

Yep, and one of the member from PMATS group  reported today that Freightliner FL-60/Champion Defender has made its final revenue run, I believe it was Route 204 operated by Krapf's. And further mentioned that bus will sent out to Germantown to be officially retired from rooster while in turn Krapf's will pick up another New Flyer MiDi MD30

Saw pictures of 4629 being delivered to Germantown shops; I'm guessing (1) that it's going to Krapfs and (2) that's probably the last bus in the batch.

Sources from PMATS mentioned #4621-4628 are the MiDis they will get for their fleet (total of 8 buses.)

2/19/2017 Today's busfanning: Of course the main course is my 1st sight of SEPTA's brand new New Flyer MiDi MD30 #4624 on Route 204 at Paoli Station operated by Krapf's. The new era of transit style low floor small buses after the previous era of truck style buses (Freightliner and Chevy/Champion Cutaways)

Yep, for the multilevelcar following bid. Interestingly because of the low bid contract even though Hyundai Rotem in Philly (no suprise if the Silverliner V problem contribute to Rotem's loss of the order) which result in CRRC (from China) winning the next order.
