global_happy_traveller Posted April 5, 2015 Report Share Posted April 5, 2015 Could be that as well as some of SEPTA's contracted Routes where those roads are narrow and have tight turns especially some traveled on small suburb streets as well as office corporation grounds and Paoli Station where areas are tight there as well. A 4 year old girl somehow wonders off from home to get a frozen treat before getting into a SEPTA Route 56 bus where passengers and the SEPTA Driver rescued them (The SEPTA operator called his supervisor who brought in Police to retrieved the girl) http://www.philly.com/philly/news/breaking/20150328_Bus_driver_finds_little_girl_alone_in_rain_at_3_a_m_.html Agreed, some of the older locations/neighborhoods are tight and can use smaller width to reduce the turning radius. In the pictures posted from various social media feeds (Twitter, etc) there were some pics especially in SEPTA's buses disrupted by the protesters. Some commuters working at Center City Offices left early ahead of the planned protest late afternoon during evening rush hour. SEPTA is buying 13 "Cities Sprinter" ACS-64 locomotives to be built by Siemens Industry Inc., the German conglomerate, at its factory in Sacramento, Calif. The price includes an option for five additional locomotives.In addition to the new locomotives, SEPTA will buy 525 hybrid buses over five years. Shuttle buses will replace trolleys while a 12-week project takes place this summer. The buses will replace the trolleys for the entire line June 15 through September 6. The work includes track replacement and changing out the overhead trolley wires. For September 26-27, the changes largely affect rail services like Regional Rail. For the Regional Rail, services will deeply reduced in expectation of large crowds and the number of stops will be cut back. Also, passengers using Regional Rails needed to buy and only use those passes on 9/26 and 9/27 to ride the regional rail trains. Don't know, probably they'll stay with Allison as SEPTA in its previous order of Nova and New Flyer Hybrids has specified Allison Hybrid Drive in their buses for fleet standardization purpose.
