and Route 398 is no longer a Contracted SamTrans Route (by MV Transportation), it is now based out of South Base (which is operated by SamTrans).

Is there a cohesive list of which routes are operated by MV Transportation versus SamTrans? There's nothing clear on the Wiki; all I can find is scattered references.

By all measures, SamTrans operates most service directly... but I feel like 80% of the time I come across a SamTrans bus, it's wearing MV decals. I can't discern any pattern.

Info, anyone?

The 122, 292, & 296, 397 are Contracted by MV Transportation full time.

After the Service Changes made on January 19th, 2020, and with the suspension of the ECR Rapid, The 398 is run by SamTrans on Weekdays and on Weekends is then Managed by MV Transportation.

Routes: ECR, FCX, SFO, 110, 112, 118, 120, 121, 130, 140, 141, 250, 251, 256, 260, 270, 274, 275, 276, 278, 280, 281, 286, 294, & 295 are Managed by SamTrans full time.

152, 143 & 153 out of service on 1/24/2020. They were broken and their notes said "do not fix." 152 has since been fixed and has returned to the district now that it has retired. 143 & 153 are still there as of last week. They are retired too, but I believe SamTrans will not take them back from MV until they are drivable again.

152 actually did not return to SamTrans. MV has officially purchased 143, 153 & 152 from SamTrans. The reason why is because they have engine problems and would cost more to fix to make drivable again vs. just buying them and sending them to auction or scrap.

Question,

has there been anybody out there or maybe the bus museum out in Fremont interested in preserving one of those NABIS?

A friend is interested and another friend wants one as a storage bus. Might not be as easy now though since they appear to be putting junk tires on the buses unlike the first auction. We'll see what happens. No museums are interested.

Because of the service changes on January 17th, SamTrans now controls the 398 every day of the week.

Here is 2009 Gllig BRT #440 (out of South Base) on the 398 to Redwood City on 1/23/2021

SamTrans is currently working on this service change project called "Reimagine SamTrans". It aims to either retain geographical coverage, Improve rail connections, and/or Direct/High Frequency service within San Mateo County.

More info: https://www.reimaginesamtrans.com/alternatives/

Hate to be that guy or open the can of worms, but are there any opinions related to these three options?

I'd be excited to see the ECR Rapid return, but that's all that generally impacts my life ?
