I rode unit 7791 on the Metro Express line 577 for today after all. I don't give a damn on how bus drivers in the OCTA wait until the last second as they become late over time where I want more than just to ride diesel buses... I want them!... otherwise the OC Bus could've had complaints on this bus service.

Measure M has passed more subways and light rail while becoming to the city of cars:

“This is the boldest, most comprehensive transportation initiative in North America,” said Washington at the conference yesterday. “We are ready to build. We are ready to build right now.”

Here are the “shovel ready” projects Measure M will fund first

That seems like logical way to pick projects to start building first.

I rode unit 5788 on line 460, 8475 on the 115, 5631 on the 266, 8472 on the 120, 4016 on the 60, 7350 and 7615 on the 260, and units 5307-5308, and 11034 on line 130. I went on unit 206 at the Metro Green Line and 129 on the Metro Blue Line. 7791 had been re-tanked just at the point Southland Transit got this unit from Division 3. More 8100s-8300s are starting to be repainted into the Silver Line paint scheme because there is a shake-up coming up that will displace most of the articulated buses out of that line. And yet, 7350, the one 7300 I rode still has a Detroit Diesel Series 50G in it, along with its original 5-speed transmission.

I rode unit 5510 on line 460, Metro Rail cars 202 and 207 on the Green Line, 105 on the Blue Line, 5495 on the 51, 9229 on the 204, 9440, 9248, and 9566 on the Metro Rapid line 754, 11016 on the 232, and finally, 5307 on line 130. MV Transportation has several re-tanked New Flyer C40LFs that have radios in it, and Division 9 is getting more Compo-buses. But still, I don't give a damn on riding the Xcelsiors due the fact that these buses are very likely involved in an accident, and last night, 7389 was on fire after it was sent into a private bus company according to Southern Cal Bus Fans on Facebook.

Two days ago, I rode unit 6087 on line 460, 204 and 222 on the Green Line, 105 on the Blue Line, 11057 on the 205, 11066 on the 232, 8008 on the 745, 523 on the Metro Purple Line and 5308 on line 130. For today, I rode unit 8100 on line 460, 11033 on the 125, 107 on the Metro Blue Line, 5457 on the 55, 7483 on the 71, 8054 on the 751, 4075 on the 60, 224 on the Metro Green Line, 7586 on the 710, and 11057 again on line 130. At downtown Los Angeles, units 7013 and 7017 ran on lines 200 and 53 respectively but unfortunately I never got the chance to ride the 7000s as well as the NABI 40C-LFW Compobuses I saw near Pershing Station. Transit Systems Unlimited in Los Angeles has some of the 7600s acquired from Metro as well as MCI CNG coach buses in their fleet. I don't give a damn on the holiday service where Metro, OCTA, and Long Beach Transit went on two days ago.

I rode units 11006 and 11043 on line 130, 167 on the Metro Blue Line, 220 on the Metro Green Line, 566 and 502 on the Metro Purple Line, 7620 and 7930 on the Metro Rapid line 740, 8621 on the 210, 7593 and 7552 on the 710, and 8146 along with 4159 on the 260. Fuck, there were demonstrators at Pershing Square, overcrowding on the Metro Blue, Expo, Red, Gold, and Purple Lines, detours on Downtown Los Angeles from the protests against Trump, and the shutdown of Union Station just after I left Patsaouras Plaza. I had to ride the City of Commerce Municipal Bus Lines unit 331 on the Citadel Express to leave that station with a huge mass of traffic on the road. In other words I don't give a damn on riding the OCTA New Flyer C40LFRs as a result of this opposition as well as I never got the chance to do a bus trip for over 3 weeks!

Metro wants all buses on the orange to be powered by electricity:

Quote

Metro is also studying an array of changes and upgrades to the Orange Line, with the aim of implementing some but not all of them:

  • new, battery-electric powered buses that produce zero emissions to replace current natural gas-powered buses

The improvements aimed to improve the speed of Orange Line such as grade separation could lead to a easy conversion to rail transit: http://la.curbed.com/2017/1/24/14375058/orange-line-brt-metro-upgrades-valley-rail

I personally don't think that they will convert it to rail

Hmm... trying to cull through this thread for specifics about new artics.

And I don't mean a test unit or two. I mean a quantity order to begin replacement of the NABI 60BRT models. They are approaching 12 years old!

Any "credible rumors" on the matter? I know LACMTA is a New Flyer stronghold; but what I wouldn't give to see a Nova LFS 'tic in Metro colors!

Nothing has been placed out to tender yet. Best is to follow the SoCal groups on Facebook

There is an rfp out for 40ft & 60ft buses. Will be later this year before we find out the winner.

I don't see any reason to replace them this soon. Sure at 14-15 years old. And there's a higher chance that LA would get Gilligs before Nova. Besides, Nova doesn't make CNG buses yet
