Does anybody out there have VIN#s for the GRT buses? I checked the wiki and for everything 2200 and on is missing the info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What on Earth would you need VIN numbers for? I'd NEVER post the VIN number for a vehicle on the internet, with the high incidence of "identity theft" and "fraud". Motive could be percieved as "highly suspicious" to some, particularily the Region's solicitors. Just something to think about. (All you need is a "valid" VIN number to alter the VIN on a stolen vehicle! Think about what you're asking for on here!)

We use VIN numbers for a lot of reasons, mainly to track production of bus models. I suppose using your theory, GRT should have never given me a VIN roster in the first place, nor posted a 2004 Version on the Waterloo region website, not to mention the various agencies such as CyRide and Valley Transit who post VIN rosters on their website. I don't think stealing a car and altering a VIN can be compared to stealing a bus and doing the same thing. So what exactly are we trying to argue here?

I know exactly what I am asking for. VIN numbers are used to track histories of vehicles and such information has been used to settle many questions about the fate of buses.

Personally I think your concerns are a little over the top, if I wanted a valid VIN for a car all I would have to do is get it off a vehicle, after all they are easily displayed.

Transit Windsor also has their roster up on the website.

While I do have a VIN roster from 2009 that I will not be posting, also be advised the VINs for the 2003 Orion VIIs and all buses that were active in 2006 are accessible here:

http://www.region.waterloo.on.ca/web/regio...pdf?openelement

I have been trying to document Orion VINs for quite a while now. Eventually I would have been glad to contribute them to the wiki project. But seeing as the reception has been nothing short of negative maybe I'll just keep them on my computer and divulge them to who I feel like. It's not worth going through the stuff I sometimes do just to get the VINs and certainly not worth my time posting them on the WIKI if people are going to bitch and complain.

Certainly puts a negative spin on the VIN wiki project.

Exactly! Its one of the few ways to track a bus' history. I don't see how VINs are private info when they are viewable to the public! Credit card numbers or drivers licence numbers YES, but VINs or licence plate numbers?

Tilley, please continue to do so. I appreciate the postings.
