Yeah I do know alot about LBT, especially 80's onward to present. I used to have a huge collection of route schedules dating back into the 70's and some other memorabilia but stupidly I got ride of it all in my late teens or early 20's and kick myself now for that....

At least you got your memories.

I remember that some of the Orion II's had doors on the back. Were these doors ever used?

And does anyone have a recording of them?

I never saw the rear doors used in those little Orion's..The Runabouts they were an ugly bus...

LBT had cutaways?

1201 is not LBT's first CNG bus, this little guy was...

They had cutaways in their dial-a-ride fleet but they outsource that now to a cab company. I did not know some of those little Orion's were CNG. Interesting. Guess it wasn't a big deal then. Those are still ugly.

I'm looking at the ZAP system on my current LBT map...

Why is ZAP a failure?

Well it's only 1 route so it's impact is limited but why do you think it's a failure?

Well it used to be two routes, 66 & 96, but people never really responded to the service, and there would be times where it's local counterparts would actually leapfrog the ZAP buses, defeating it's purpose as a "Rapid Route"

When they canceled the 66 I thought they would started it on another line but I guess money was an issue at the time. I didn't get why they did a ZAP on Atlantic and not on LB Blvd. I know you have Poly and Jordan so that's a lot of kids for the line but thats why they have the school trippers right. But I get what your saying. If the local 91,92,93, or 94 is passing up the "Rapid" bus it does seem counterproductive. What do you think of the change on the 96 to send it to near Millikan?

Maybe it would have a better idea to implement the ZAP idea on a heavily used, single route, like the 51, not along with other similar routes like 61/62/63 or 91/92/93/94

Another idea that would've made ZAP more successful would have been special buses painted for that service, even if it was a simple paint.

Your right about the school trippers. During school time, I've seen two buses run as one bus in the same schedule, an example would be the 190's running by Cabrillo.

The 96 is running by Millikan now? I thought they only changed the portion in downtown, the route finishes at 6th & LB Blvd and starts at 7th & LB Blvd, it doesn't end at or originate at Transit Mall anymore.

I think a special paint scheme would help. People would be able to identify that it's a ZAP bus with it's own livery instead of just the head sign. Yes the run the 96 up to Spring and Woodruff now just a couple blocks west of Millikan. I think it is odd for the 96 to not

service the Transit Mall anymore.

Yeah that is weird, at pm rush hour, it drops off passengers at 7th/LB and then it does it's Layover at 6th street, behind walmart

And yeah, more service was needed by Millikan, the 172 couldn't handle all the students.

How long did the Opus's service route 131 ?

Not sure on how long but it was at least a couple to 3 years. Maybe not continuously but it was over that period at least.

From what I remember yes the insides were originally white. The redid them to black and some white when the added the rear end square cap in a mid life refurb.

But why did it only run for only 13 years, it at least could have done 15-16 years

Not sure exactly why they replaced it at 13 years but I do remember they were quite beat-up by that point and rattling around.

There seems to be a Prevost Coach on the Anaheim and Cherry yard, but it seems that it is never used.

They use it every one and again for special events and some Charter runs. I have seen it out on the street before and in pictures out doing special events.

My condolences to his family, and I would've never imagine that an Opus would do that.

No point in fixing that bus, I'd get rid of it, quick.

Fish Anybody? :D

*Mistake, please ignore 60BRT

Does LBT really needs to run 3 buses at the same time on route 61? I saw 2 groups of 3 buses in a 7 minute period. They weren't even full.

I agree..I see that everyday on my way home in North LB...3,4 sometimes 5 in a row in the span of a block or 2. I have a feeling some are school trippers though but they all have like 5-10 people on each bus by the time they get up to Artesia and Atlantic...
