I might be attending... I know lots of people in scarborough that are fed up with the delays and will be scooting down there. It's not a subway, but its something. BusFreak93
What's there to save exactly? And who said that it is dead?Dan Basically once TTC spends its 4 Billion the rest is up for grabs. Premier has said it is not dead just "delayed". When you look at the economics, the Ontario Gov had to cut it out because... They claim to have shaved off 3 Billion from their original debt estimates during the recession when in reality they spent 1 Billion more and Delayed Transit City (4 Billion)

Seriously, Miller is 110% behind Transit City, and is extremely pissed that the province cut funding. Protesting at City Hall will not do anything, as they're already trying everything to get money from Queen's Park. If you really wanted to make an impact, protest at Queen's Park. But not City Hall. pccstreetcar4549
yeah and most if not all the canditates are against it anyways so theres nothing really worth protesting about, btw i heard enough of millers plea on the subway recently (lol first time i heard it got cut off for transit control page)
Neil
It would seem far more productive if those protesters had some specific suggestions about how to raise the money required to fund the project. I figure no one is advocating the removal of hospital beds or taking books away from school children. Short of that, more money for transit won't happen without a plan for generating the revenue. Sales tax? Road tolls? Property taxes? Parking fees? Pick your poison. I'd be far more impressed with this lobby group if they helped to position with the public about where the money will come from. Aztek985
Thank you Mr. McGuinty. Your past 6 years of service to our province have been nothing short of disappointing.
smallspy
My point was that no funding has been cut - only delayed - and frankly it is not yet readily apparent that the opening for any of the projects due for funding will even be delayed. So why are people protesting something that is an unknown at this point? Dan

How about cutting funding for all the highway widenings and extensions? I love how they never dare touch those.

Grapejuice
Does this funding situation really surprise anyone though? Every time the government changes and whatever the last government body started gets cut or changed in some way. Or when there is some type of "budget crisis". Why do you think there are so many transit projects that are only partly completed or started, scrapped all together, etc. Why did the RT stop at McCowan instead of going out to Centennial Collage? Why is the Sheppard line only 5 stops? Why did the articulated buses that were supposedly going to be at the Mount Dennis garage never materialize? I'm sure many of you know about more things that were only partly completed and or never started due to lack of follow through on various governments part. That's why as excited as I was to see the Transit City plans I said in the back of my mind "I'll believe it when I see it."

I would say the Sheppard line will be build and the Scarborough RT replacement, Maybe Eglinton will be build but not for 5-7 years and all those projects outside Toronto besides Go transit have no chance in hell. cbrown2009
It's funny how the provincial government cries "No money", but could some how afford to waste the $100 million or so just to fill in the "hole" under Eglinton. I wonder who really paid for that.

I wonder who really paid for that. Huh? How can you relate something that happened 15 years ago, with a different government in power and completely different financial circumstances, to what is happening now? There is absolutely no relation at all. And what were they supposed to do in any case? Build the rest of the line for $1.5bil? Dan
cbrown2009
Different government different time same old story. And now, sooner or later, a rather expensive job that will be done all over again. If it gets done at all.
