This is ushering a new era for the fleet. They've always maintained a very diverse fleet. When the fleet was mostly Orions they still had Nova RTS's, New Flyers, and Gilligs. With the oldest Orions and MCIs to be replaced with Gillings, only the 2012 Orions would remain. The multi year contract with options for Gillig presumably means they'll have a 100% Gillig fleet in a few years.

Surprised New Flyer hasn't tried to sneak in and underbid Gillig to push the Xcelsior platform, seeing as Centro was a former New Flyer customer. They were purposely on a roll underbidding Gillig strongholds to push the Xcelsior line for the past couple of years. Interesting though

Oh and if anyone hasn't seen it one of my friends owns the 9977 - It's still alive:

Nice catch.  Should be interesting to see how the number series shakes out for the entire order, given the multiple size and powertrain configurations.

The clock is ticking on 1000-1017 and good thing - those buses have served well but they are beat.

Yeah, IIRC Centro got their 2010 Orion 7.501 NG CNGs between NG CNG orders for MTA Long Island bus/NICE.

You kind of had me thinking of the 2017 order with the way those are numbered.

For those keeping score, this is what i am aware of for 2022 serials as of today. Based on RailBus' information quoted below:

There is now a photo of 2230 on Centro's Facebook page, so the number series for the CNG's appears to be 2230-2247.

It looks like Syracuse's CNG batch seems to be complete.

2210 and 2211 are now in service on the Oswego division.

I'd like to add 2213-2214 to that now-in-service report. I don't track Syracuse religiously nor do I live in Onondaga/Oswego Counties so I'm not sure about 2212, but it seems logical that it exists as well.

The series appears to be 2210-2217.   The 40-foot single-door diesels are 2250-2254 and the four 35-footers for Utica are numbered 2220-2223.

Some of the 2005 New Flyers and 2008 Gilligs lasted beyond 12 years.  And Orion V #9977 lasted 20 years!

And 540 lasted 24 years.  Here are photos I took in 2002:

and in 2011:

And despite its longevity, it looks as if I never managed to get a photo of 9977!

What are the half round things on the roof... Some type of vent?

Probably, though I'm not an expert here.  They look a lot like the ones on the Yellow Coach and GM Old Look buses before the Thermo-Matic units were introduced in 1946.  Looking through some older photos, the vents were also used on the Neoplan and Orion I buses from the 1980s, at least.  Centro also had non-standard AC units their Orion I and V buses, as seen on the photos below:
