The XDE60
8103 had made its way back home, and seen preping for route 41W today at 44th St.
3we
I've been watching the XD40 fleet for a couple of months. I haven't seen 8083/8090/8093/8094/8128/8154 in service at all.
The XDE60
5624... I discovered that there's a scanner (if that what it really is) next to the farebox by the front door. What's the purpose of the installations?

I'd assume it's a QR code reader for an eventual mobile fare payment system.
Flyer59
4507 appears to be on the way out. https://m.publicsurplus.com/sms/auction/view?auc=2872559
The XDE60
Is 8063 the only bus to be sold tomorrow? I have a feeling more will be available this afternoon.
The XDE60
Looks like 8063 was the only bus sold today, and sold for $3,800.
Flyer59
4506 is also being sold at auction https://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/auction/view?auc=2882005
The XDE60
While the main fleet page is NOT updated, may I note that 6453-6458 are sold at regular auction cycle and 8107 ended up in a severe AC fire, leading a possible recall. Also... any new buses entering service?
The XDE60
With 4506, 4507 and possibly 4508 out of use, is there an estimated timeframe on when 4525+ start routes? I do have a feeling they will be CNG Gilligs uncertain on length.
3we
I think 4522-4524 are the replacements. The base fleet was 21 "trolleys", and there is no need to expand the fleet. I don't find the Scottsdale City Council allocating funds for new equipment (since 2019), and the oldest Gilligs don't qualify for replacement funding yet,
The XDE60
The wiki shows that 8109 is grayed out, which is incorrect as TransSee states that the bus is on a route. What should've been grayed out is 8107. Also... when and where did 8107 have its AC malfunction?
3we
Yes, 8109 was fixed. Picture attached shows it on fire at the eastern end of route 50. Bus 8107 caught fire on August 18, 2020; I don't know where.

3we
Phoenix Transit has recommended the Gillig bid for its 40-foot bus needs through 2026.
The XDE60
With the 2009 L40LFR's currently being used on FLASH only... what's likely going to relpace those seven buses? With actual numbers unknown, I think it'd most likely be 35 ft Gillig Low Floors on CNG.
3we
No, this is Phoenix only, which expects to take 40-60 buses per year. RPTA is still using the New Flyer contract that runs into next year; it should probably start the bid process soon.
The XDE60
Today's auction, same day and auction that my school district sold 19 buses: *6460- $2,900 *6485- $3,400 *6490- $4,200 *6653- $6,800 *6656- $7,400 *6661- $6,
The XDE60
With the lastest service changes, TransSee posted 6714-6717 on route 184. Can somebody tell me WHO at Valley Metro approved the idea of 6714-6733 running local routes?!
3we
But, it appears that all of the C40LFRs up through 6668 are now retired. On a separate topic, Scottsdale is back to Dunn Transportation.
The XDE60
Did Phoenix get new articulated buses? TransSee states 8155 is on route 29W when its last two routes were 19 and 70. Which made me think TransSee should've listed 8156. Also, would Phoenix consider Nova Bus for future articulated bus orders?
3we
It's showing 6720 on Avondale ZOOM. If true, who would be operating that? I think Nova looked at a Phoenix bid once, but passed on submitting a bid.
3we
Phoenix City Council approved funding for the Transit Department to acquire a small fleet of low- or zero-emissions buses (hybrid/electric/hydrogen). Public Transit will acquire up to 20 buses over the next five years for testing in the Phoenix environment. The Council was scheduled to vote on the Gillig award last night, but that was tabled to the next meeting (that's interesting).
