M. David
Nice catch, Gerbil ! And here I thought the 30-XXX were going to Anjou. It seems LaSalle is the first to get new buses, as they got the first 28s and all of the 2009 3rd-gens. A fast question about the 30s: Are there any differences between them and the 2009 3rd-gens? Tristan informed me today that 30-003, our newest palindrome, is currently at LaSalle.

stm_5307N
From the other board, 30-256 was on the 69! Be on the lookout for this demo bus in LE territory from now on!

M. David
What does 30-256 run on again? It's a combination of diesel fuel and something random that starts with "ur", IIRC.
Mystic
What does 30-256 run on again? It's a combination of diesel fuel and something random that starts with "ur", IIRC. It's a substance that filters out the carbon "guck" in the engine before it gets exhausted out to the atmosphere and turns it into harmless water and hydrogen. Urea is actually a form of what you may think. pee. But it's clean when when they put it in the tank, and they only use a small amount just to filter out the noxious exhaust that creates smog. It's been a standard practice for years in the US, it's new ground here in Canada though. The downside though is that it is added maintenance, and if it's not maintained or the urea tank is left empty, the bus is designed to no longer function. So we'll have to chalk up one more reason for an LFS to breakdown...

It hasn't been standard practice in the US, actually. It is one of the methods that can be used when the EPA2010 regs take effect in August. Europe, on the other hand - it has been very common for several years now. I think it became common with the Euro IV standards that took effect in 2005. So if the bus runs out of urea, and urea is really what you said it was, then there is one sure-fire way to fill it up again .

Gerbil
Can some get pictures of 30-001 or 30-256 pleses I will when I see them, when it is still bright outside. It was dark when I saw 30-001. (You should watch your grammar and spelling.)
SMS
(You should watch your grammar and spelling.) transit boy should also watch his mouth and learn to be polite. We take photos when it's convenient for us, not you. You'd better get used to that fact. If you're not happy with the speed with which we take photos, come here and do it yourself. Thanks for your understanding.
Mystic
According to an STM news letter, here are the following garage allocations for the 2010 buses: 74 - Lasalle 124 - Legendre 105 - Anjou 84 - St-Laurent Total -
M. David
Sheesh. Frontenac and Mont-Royal continue to get the ol' screw big time when it comes to receiving new buses. Their newest bus is currently 27-029, and it's been like that for at least two years now. I can name at least one person who will not be happy with this news... St-Denis, Mont-Royal and Frontenac were all supposed to close, so maybe that's why they're not getting any new buses. I hope they decide to keep them open though. SMS
Only Mont-Royal is slated to close with the opening of CT Stinson. It is our oldest division. All others are necessary to the running of affairs in the central city.
stm_5307N
I will take the honor of the first 30-XXX sighting.30-001 was on the 105 during PM rush, today. As what I suspected, this sighting is false.. I just spoke to my contact and all 30 series buses have never seen service yet as they are still being prep'd for service at CT Lasalle. The contremaitre of the garage has yet to assign a 30 series bus in service yet! The highest at Lasalle garage is 30-005 so far. So with no real proof of that 30-001 sighting, you're out of luck and have been caught..

Do you have proof that it is not ready for service yet? Someone on the other board also saw it... I did not have proof because I saw it passing on the other side while I was on 15-093, plus it was dark outside. I did have my camera. I am 100 % sure I saw it, it was waiting at a light so, I got a long glimpse of it. Sorry if it wasn't "convenient" for me to take a photo of it, I am not in control of that, how about you try taking a photo of a bus passing on the other side when it is dark outside. You will see, it won't work out!

gmnewlook
Here's the first photos of 30-256 (or 30256) at Legendre: It has the old specs (small side destination sign) and a second trap door on the side. I also saw 30-013 and 30-017 in the yard at LaSalle (seen from the street).

We've been getting 3rd-gens with the new specs since the summer, so I find it strange that this one would be different. In addition, it was mentioned that 30-256 was built in between artics 29-842 & 29-843, which were built in late 2009. But even so, all of those have the new specs, so it's very strange that 30-256 does not. Also, it seems that 29085 is no longer the only 3rd-gen that is missing hyphens in its side fleet numbers. I bet the rest of 30s will have the same specs as 29-115+, and will have the new electronic bell installed as well. ***Post No. 3,500!!!***

Anyways, it doesn't matter as 30-256 will get sent back to Novabus after the trial period. I can confirm that up to 30-019 have been delivered to garage Lasalle this morning. Only 30-001, 002 and 005 are ready for regular service as for this morning! So, you will start to see 30 series buses starting this week on the road.
