So I got a few more shots to add to my growing 246 BSD run collection:

Last Thursday, it was a blue DE60LFR, which I unfortunately didn't get pictures of. I think that the blue DE60LFRs are some of the best-looking buses we have here and if one is back in the next few days I'll make sure to get a picture of it.

Last Friday, it was another DE60LF, but this time I watched it climb the hill, which was interesting as it's pretty steep. Here is a head-on shot while it was stopped:

And today it was another DE60LF:

KCM New Flyer DE60LF #6821 by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr

Also today, I went to the South Bellevue Park and Ride. My initial goal was to get shots of a D60LFR on 560, since after the route is transferred to Pierce Transit on Saturday there won't be artics anymore. I got to see 9808 on its way to Bellevue:

One other thing that I wanted to do before the fall shake-up was to get pics of 9200, aka THE DE40LF. I was checking everyday on OneBusAway to see if it was in service, and all of last week it was in service the morning but went out of Service around noon, and then in the evening it was back. So today I wished that 9200 could be in service when I was at the P&R. According to data that I got before leaving it was not, but a coach change ended up happening at BTC and well, it was in service when I was there. It came down Bellevue way right after I had gotten a pic of the above D60LFR, and at first I thought it was one of PT's C40LFs in driver training, but, no, it was THE DE40LF! So I got to grab a few pics:

And the tape is gone:

In between hybrid 550s I got to see a D60LF. Those buses look weird without the batteries on the roof and it's hard to imagine it was once the standard:

Talking about hybrids, here are a few DE60LFs on 550.

Very surprised to see this unit retains its run number box... this is the last Metro operated unit still equipped.

Taken last Thursday, 9585 on 554 at Eastgate:

And the rest taken on Friday:

9547 is one of the few Wi-Fi buses out there (excluding Rapid Ride):

At a point no buses came in about seven minutes, then all at once a 216, 211 and 212 showed up and in the minute following that rush another 212 came. Perhaps Metro needs to time its buses better:

Westbound lane waiting for the 554 to DT Seattle - about 30/35 people. Needless to say with the Issaquah people already on the bus when it leaves Eastgate nearly all seats are taken if its not SRO.

My best panned bus that day: a 40' Phantom:

Since 215 doesn't stop at Issaquah TC anymore, some trips now have Orions instead of artics:

DE60LF on 216. It had only been a week since the fall shakeup yet bad habits were back with about a dozen people getting off at Eastgate with each 216 coming in. Weird that people still go in the tunnel to take 216 when on 2nd the combination between 210, 212, 215 and 554 has higher frequency and can provide them with a seat.

Poor guy doesn't like being photographed!

I'm pretty sure he was kidding. After dropping off his passengers at Bays 1/2 he came back up on 142 displaying "to terminal" and while he was waiting at the light he opened the front door since I was standing there and asked if I was taking pictures for a school project or anything similar in a friendly tone. When I told him I was just a transit fan he laughed.

So i don't think he mined at all. Plus with my polarizer on to darken the blue sky at maximum the level of reflections on most windshields is enough to hide the operator and passengers,

Hey, ferries are transit, since they carry thousands of foot passengers everyday across the sound. They also accept ORCA cards (lol).

Here's a very particular photo of a ferry. Yes, that is Lake Union from Gas Works park, and on the Lake is the MV Kennewick en-route to Lake Union Drydock for dockside repairs. That's from yesterday, and the Kennewick is staying in the lake for an entire month, if you want to see it.

[Photo by my mother, since I personally wasn't able to make it out there because of school]

The day after that (Saturday I went for a Seattle trip which took me on 554, Link and 550. Here's the 554 I was on, a 12-year old D60LF. Needless to say the punch strips confused me:

After getting a friend from RR-B I took 550 to MI, but we ended up waiting 20+ minutes. When the bus came up it was pretty obvious that the ST coach supposed to cover the run broke down and that KCM had to deploy a bus from EB to cover the run. Also because the bus was late it got full (all seats taken and 5+ standees by the time we got to SBPR.

They could've put new trolley poles on the MANs - on the busdude.com site, he has pictures of a MAN testing out the KIEPE ELEKTRIK poles before they used them on the Gillig Trolleys (http://www.busdude.c.../KCM_4000_3.jpg). The KIEPE ELEKTRIK poles seem much longer and much more able to hold onto the catenary lines. They aren't completely faultless though (from the King County Metro wiki):

Seattle_Metro_13.jpg

are these trolleys or diesels ?

originally built with a 6v92TA/ZF 4HP590 for diesel power, and a Fuji Traction motor with AEG Westinghouse control system in 1990/91, from 2004-2007 they had the diesel drive train removed and were modified to run only on electric power. During the conversion to 4200 series coaches they also received modified interiors, Luminator Horizon head signs and Kiepie poles replacing the original Ohio brass poles

Alright, some pictures from last week. On Friday I went to see a UW Basketball game at Alaska Arena and got a few shots of UW Station construction. These are not the best quality as I wasn't able to take my tripod out so I had to shoot in high ISOs. I like the "behind this wall is [...] branding.

Behind this wall is the World by SolDuc Photography, on Flickr

On Wednesday I attended a lecture at Bellevue High School then instead of coming back home for half an hour before my french class on MI I took the 550 over to MI then the 203 to the french school, including a bit of transit fanning on the way. Needless to say there were a lot of __60LFR out that day on both 550 and 554.

On top of LFRs 554 sure had some interesting stuff running, like one of the older D60LFs. Notice how the bus still says it has wi-fi.
