Matt Dunlop
I don't know if this fits in the topic, but here's a Youtube video I just saw of an LRT being delivered.
LRT
Today is the 42 anniversary of the LRT. I can actually say that I was there for the inaugural run. Never forget the new smell of the LRT cars and stations. It was packed! One of the LRT car is on display in 1977 at Edmonton’s Klondike Days

brookiedbj
Talked with some of the TransEd guys while I was at work tonight. They said if the summer is really good this year, we could see a mid 2021 opening of the Valley Line

Ditto That being said, it would be ideal if they could time it for the first day of the system redesign which has now also been pushed back to mid-2021.

I'd be quite happy with a late summer 2021 LRT opening but I have my strong doubts. One calculation I did with the build running at 70% on time meant a 17 month delay that would mean a mid 2022 opening. They're on time didn't improve much between Q3 and Q4 2019. Let's hope it does for Q1 2020. I figure they need a 85% on time rate for a mid 2021 opening.

Its going to be interesting to see new operators operating a new system without LRT experience unless you see some new hires from ETS Possibly retirees from rail side (I might be completely wrong with this assumption) This is an intire different kind of project. Commissioning of the west LRT in Calgary took at least 6 months and that actually went extremely smooth. Can’t wait to see the line open otherwise!
awstott
1017 and 1018 are almost here. I don't think I've seen two on the same CN train before. And last but not least.... by Andrew Stott, on Flickr

M. Parsons
ETS has started retrofitting LRV's with a trackside worker protection system. Devices worn by trackside workers will communicate with the motorperson via the antenna mounted on the exterior of the trains and a console in the cab. When ETS procured this, it clearly called it a "secondary safety system" so I gather that this does not replace having a flagperson and any other existing rules around personal working at track level. 1073 center mounted above the cab. 1013 mounted next to the destination sign. This is yet another piece scabbed onto the U2's! - HID light - extra contacts on the couplers - CBTC equipment - and now trackside worker protection system These U2's don't look anything like they did 40+ years ago!
