newflyerinvero
Just curious, but were the 100 series D40LF's the replacements for those Orion VI's for London Transit? What will LT do with the rest of them? Any plans for purchasing any more new or used buses? If so, what kind?
newflyerinvero
Oops...looked at the title here and noticed that it said "Lond Transit". I meant to put "London Transit"...Ya, I'm sure most of you know what it was anyways.

What will LT do with the rest of them? Any plans for purchasing any more new or used buses? If so, what kind? Those new D40LF's were most likely purchased to replace the retiring Orion VI's and I believe some of the GM Classics, the plan is like the TTC which is to retire the Orion VI's as they fail. As for future bus orders I haven't heard anything yet, although i'm sure our fellow resident board members may have heard a thing or two I may not know about, as for the brand it looks like London Transit is going to be sticking with New Flyer. MCI Classic
I believe that most London Transit Orion 6's are retired once they have a major failure. Our newest D40LF's were bought to replace mostly Orion 6's and a few Classics. I have not heard anything about new buses but expect more D40LF's next year. rollsign29
Here and here are my pictures of the bus. I was in london for the first time since APril when I finished school (this was grad ceremony) and noticed a significant number of D40LF's and even said to myself "wtf" when I noticed a 100-series D40LF. My first impression was that they ran out of numbers in the 400's for them, and didn't want to go into the 500's, so they started at 100. That, or they were renumbering all of the D40LF's into the 100-series. Also saw the new Fanshawe terminal ... big improvement over the "single bus bay". From my years at Fanshawe, I was able to get shots of 29 Orion VI's, 2 Fishbowls (116/5000 and 118), 48 Classics (including 156 from the original order), and 1 Orion V-CNG (346, excellent shot too). Anything else isn't really significant, but I think I captured a significant number of buses (at least 1/2 the fleet). - Josh

When me and Luke were there back in September it was still under heavy construction iirc.
MaT
How many D40LFs are there now anyways? Did the previous order go right to 499? And how many are in the 1xx series?
MCI Classic
How many D40LFs are there now anyways? Did the previous order go right to 499? And how many are in the 1xx series? The New Flyer D40LF series runs from 450 to 487 and then 101-115.
MaT
Ok thanks. How are the 26-28(routes) coming along? Is there a lot of people taking them?
Aztek985
Ok thanks. How are the 26-28(routes) coming along? Is there a lot of people taking them? There are 35 routes. Afaik, all the routes are used to the number of buses placed on them, except routes 8 and 19 which shouldn't have 40ft buses running on them. MaT
No no no, I was talking about the 3 new routes that they just made, I know one of them is to the airport...sorry lol. ok, I just looked and got the numbers wrong. The routes that I'm thinking of are the 36(airport industrial), 37(Sovereign Road) and 38(Stoney Creek).
Aztek985
Oh. I don't know. I've only seen the 38 and 36. 38 had no ridership, and the 36 has mild ridership. The 37 only runs on-peak.
MaT
Ok, when did they make those routes anyway, I know they're fairly new? The 36 should have at least a decent amount of riders on it since it services the airport.
MaT
Hey I have a question. Where is the downtown bus terminal? I'm leaving for London on Wednesday morning(to take pics of buses, cop cars and scenery) and I wanted to take pics there and catch a bus there(preferably a D60LF) and ride around London and get back off at the terminal. There is no downtown transit terminal in London. But most downtown routes do meet up at Dundas and Richmond Streets. You can wait around downtown hoping to find a artic but a better idea is go to the University and look for one on route 33.
newflyerinvero
Additionally when you're at Dundas @ Richmond, buses go in both directions on both streets. You'll find plenty of Classics, VI's, Inveros and D40LF's. Enjoy.
MaT
Ok I'm back from London. I loved the city and LT! here are my sighting during my trip. Didn't get to ride any D60LFs though.
