Yaxing Bus

Apparently the plan is to send the Yaxing to at least one more system for trial before BC Transit looses the bus.

There is a rumour going around that the Yaxing is to make an appearnance in Salmon Arm for evaluations. Don't know for sure, don't know when, don't know how long. But if it does, you heard it from me first :(

It had better be there on at least one of my days off, I wouldn't mind taking her out for a quick spin around the block :D

The drivers seemed to like the bus, but all the passengers HATE it. There were onboard surveys, and remember, the only people who take surveys are the ones who hate things.

wondering if BC Transit is going to keep this demo or not? Moreover isn't BC Transit ordered 15 of these buses? When are they expecting to arrive? Thank you

Did you or someone else mention it returned to Grande West for and EPA 2010 engine update? The rear is definately different, and it looks like it received the EMP "minihybrid" radiator too.

Here is an article from The Globe and Mail regarding Grande West, the company behing the Yaxing buses in Canada. Sounds like they want to sell them in the US too, naturally. I will paste some of the more interesting parts below:

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/international-business/asian-pacific-business/canadian-bus-manufacturer-takes-a-different-route/article16925804/

"Grande West, after failing to find a bus manufacturer in North America willing to help them build a smaller bus for public transit authorities in Canada, turned to China. Yaxing’s immense scale helps Grande West shave $75,000 off of each 27-and-a-half-foot bus they sell to buyers such as BC Transit for about $270,000.

There are currently 15 buses running in B.C. and 18 in production at Yaxing: Three are going to Nova Scotia and 12 to Quebec. The order also includes two 27.5-foot demonstration buses, and a 30-foot demonstration bus for Ontario.

For Grande West, which went public on the Toronto venture exchange in December, the arrangement allows the company to remain nimble in their cost structure, building buses without an assembly line, on an order-by-order basis.

“With Yaxing, we can go over with a 50-bus order, a 100-bus order,” Mr. Trainer says. “We’ve tried to be efficient and global by taking Canadian engineering and bringing it to China.”

At the same time, although Grande West is bypassing unionized factories in North America, the outsourcing comes at less of a cost to North American workers, since the bus manufacturers that originally rejected Grande West – such as giants Nova Bus and New Flyer – had facilities that were running at capacity, Mr. Trainer said."

Thought this was pretty funny, take a look at the interior photos.

http://www.yaxingkec...x?id=409&mid=68

The driver's workstation and accessible area are from a BC Transit New Flyer Hybrid and the interior photo is from one of BCT's 9900-series Darts

a typical Chinese company would do........false advertisement..........nothing surprising at all!
