712 and 902 have the clips installed

YRT is being done before VIVA which is a pleasant surprise

This somewhat caught me by surprise as well, considering they even advertised Viva would be done first. Ah well.. I don't think it really matters anyways since the region will most likely only introduce the service once the ENTIRE fleet has them (Viva and YRT).

Anyhow, it's a "Sportrack" bike rack according to general682002. He took a picture of the one on 902 tonight, although eventually someone will get a clearer picture of the mounts/racks it was a little difficult due to the darkness/rain and fog tonight... Again this is just the mount, but so you get an idea until we get a better photographing day (thanks Sherman... i won't get to see them in person till Saturday):

This is happening faster than the repaints. Is there a standardisation procedure/policy in effect with regards to the license plate after the rack is installed? I don't think we need more things placed at random spots.

I never thought of that.. hopefully YRT DID!.... Might I suggest an email to transitinfo@york.ca to make sure they have a plan BEFORE and not AFTER the fact...

I've noticed a number of transit agencies only install racks until a significant number of buses have mounts installed. By the way, what colour are the racks, just curious.

I haven't seen them... but if they are the same as TTC.. well.. pretty obvious if that's the case..

Perhaps that would explain this?

Seems plausible, but it's an awkward position for a license plate. I'd put it where most (if not, all) other agencies have put theirs, above either headlights.

I've made a comparison shot of different licence locations. That area that the licence plate is put (to the side) seems the best.

Forgot to add that the one centre of the windshield could also fit, but would require additional equipment to affix it.

Ok.. first off.. following have bike rack mounts (sorry if I listed duplicates):

572

576

618

903

584

585

718

712

711

407

403

560

865

564

Second of all.... That Viva bus does explain it... here's a pic of 557 that had the bike rack mount installed and the plate moved.. looks like this is what will most likely be happening with the front plates.. makes sense.

(hope you can see it, the mount is in the middle of the bumper, the plate has been moved to the left(curb) side.. I took the pic with my cell phone tonight after my shift).

Dropping the plate to the drivers left on the dashboard has been done before. Just for the media launch and I believe a few training runs. I'll check to see if any of the A330's ran around with their plates mounted like that during training.
