Today's Sightings

Recommended Posts

Since Oakville is considered 'GTA', I guess I'll have to post these here:

I was at Oakville GO between 3:50pm and 4:30pm. An intereseting thing happend:

Orion VII #4109 had broke down in the 19-River Oaks bus bay. I'm wasn't too sure how long it had been there but I'll say that it definitely slowed and screwed many of the other buses which were trying to get in and out of Oakville GO.

In the meantime,

3:50pm:

4111 (19)

9911 (27)

9902 (28)

871 (20)

921 (14)

901 (15)

897 (17)

893 (24)

9903 (18)

9912 (10 or 13)

4:20pm:

951 (11)

2102 (20)

6105 (24) (the new D40LFR)

8540 (26)

881 (16)

9911 (27)

4107 (17)

892 (19)

4102 (14)

4101 (15)

I think Oakville sightings should be posted in the Ontario section, after all, when the new D40LFR's arrived they were posted in the Ontario section.

YRT: 306 was used on 202...I don't remember seeing any 40 ft bus other than a Orion VI used for 202.

I remember seeing a picture from your collection of an ex-Markham Orion I laying over on Enterprise before a run on 202.

2250, 2390, 2422, 7901, 7904, 7925, 7943, 7955, 7958, 7961, 7963, 9417, 9421, 9426, 9428, 9431, 9432 (incredibly slow-closing rear doors), 9435, 9442, and 9445 were all on the 29 today.

MT's Route 3 during PM Rush had one 06, one VI (as mentioned), no 03's, and 8 05's (0505, 0508, 0515, 0527, 0529, 0538, 0555, and 0571).

Your right, I completely forgot about that. I even forgot I saw a Classic once now that I've been reminded, I even saw a D40 waiting. Looks like I wasn't thinking properly its the newer buses that I haven't seen.

Yeah... the bus originally assigned to do 202 was an El Dorado but it had fare box problems so an express run that was going out of service did the switch off.

I almost forgot. i saw a d40lf serving business express this afternoon.

Get used to seeing more d40lf's on Express runs. I think 3 or 4 were used again this morning.

say doesn't the passenger pay higher fare just to ride the business express? don't YRT has enough luxuary buses to serve that route?

The 3 also had atleast two Orion VIs, 9806 being one of them!

D40LFs have been put on express routes before. The goal of the express route is to get to your destination faster than normal transit. I think YRT is being generous in trying to put buses with express type seats as often as they can. I don't think anyone can say the YRT D40LF is a slow bus, its a very good express bus. When the express seating Orion Vs didn't exist in YRT, guess what YRT used when the D40S wasn't available...an Orion I.

When were 2048 and 2051 I believe had their seats converted for most likely express service?

Here's one for you.

Ex-Markham #2033 is currently on route 85A ! They ran out of richmond hill buses! Also 2036 is being used on route 1.

They pay the higher fare for the "express" type service. To get you from point A to point B faster with minimal stops. I as a driver personally prefer a D40LF on the 407 compared to any of the Ex-Go's Orion Vs. The New Flyers drive so much nicer and actually have a better acceleration i find than Orion V's.

Hmm I once did saw 2061 on 85.

http://felix-poon.fotopic.net/p24554434.html

However the D40LFs on it were most likely Miller Richmond Hill. Is 577 part of Miller Richmond Hill, YRT-Guy?

Yeah.. the difference is that 2033 has all it's ex-Markham transit livery. Seeing it on 85A must have confused some people.. no?

And out of the 500 series at Miller 574, 575, 576, 577 & 578 are assigned as Richmond Hill D40LF's.

Woups I misinterpret the second 3 as a 6. Now that is a sighting that could've warrant a photograph! Oh well :)

Yesterday Evening:

I was at Roncessvalles/King & Queen/The Queensway yesterday around 7:00pm which was good timing because I got to see a lot of Streetcars go NIS and go into Roncy Carhouse. I saw 2 ALRVs go into the Yard, one off of 501 the other off of 508 (that surprised me, does 508 usually get ALRVs?) and a lot of CLRVs, 2 off of 506, 4 off of 504, 1 off of 511. one of the 504 ones was 4037 if "CLRV4037" wants to know, also 4120 still wrapped was on 504 until it reached Roncy. Other than those Streetcar sighttings, 7942 was on 193 along with another VII which I didn't get the number of. Lastly, my dad told me yesterday the VII that he was on got into a little accident while it was on 11 Bayview.

Does anyone know if the school buses with rear doors are still running in YRT land?

I believe they have been disposed off after Route 222 was discontinued. They were predominantly used on 222.

MT:

0108 on 66

0105 on 6

0110 and 0107 not in service
