So recently 2 companies From the world of communists and goods have hit the block and that is BYD for electric buses and CRRC for the traditional culture of rail commuters and I think these 2 are crap! So I am interested to hear what people of think of CRRC and of course BYD

CTA DE40LF's 900-909 are all gone. 900-904,906,908-909 to Complete Coach Works, possibly to be rebuilt as regular diesel-electrics? Apparent cause is bankruptcy of ISE Systems, which means parts no longer available.

2A couple updates/corrections for CTA: J14 wrapped buses are 4080-4097, 4099-4105 Sale of 900's to Complete Coach Works apparently fell thru. They are still rotting in the back yard at the main shops. RTS 4905 is a "mobile command post", "TI1" was apparently never applied. Bus is now retired, still identified as 4905. Novas 6402, 6404 were work buses WB1 and WB2 for a while, then given to Chicago City Colleges, Olive-Harvey Campus for use as driver training vehicles and replaced by two other Novas as WB1 and WB2. M-K rail car 3457 is paired with 3458, a Budd car, former 3032, whose mate 3031 was wrecked at Wilson Av on the Red Line many years ago.

Hi again, I was just doing some VIN work when I stumbled across this problem: http://www.cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php?title=Chicago_Transit_Authority_5800-5864_(1995) Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that the Sequence numbers 15747 to 15809 fit into the "S" VINs for the 1995 built buses. My thinking is that the first 2 are 1994s and the rest are 1995s. According to http://www.utahrails.net/ajkristopans/FLYER.php

Can someone create a station infobox for Chicago Transit Authority "L" stations? It should look very similar to the infoboxes for the TTC and Montreal Metro stations, with editable signs similar to the ones currently used (source): It's the way these signs are structured that brings me to the reason why I don't even know how to configure them properly, so that's why I made this thread. I've successfully managed to create an editable Amtrak station sign, but still, this is possibly something beyond what I'm capable of doing.

Chicago transit Authority 900-904,906,908-909 (hybrid DE40LF's) are being auctioned off as scrap. Basically because ISE went out of business and parts no longer available. 905, 907 still running until they break down.

4080-4097, 4099-4105 are the wrapped "jump" buses Archer Garage is now gone - demolished by early April Ardmore Garage - buses were stored in the open yard which is now a ward yard. This was always operationally administered by the Devon Carhouse, which itself never had bus facilities. Ravenswood Garage for many years was the location of Johnson Farebox! Keeler Garage went back to what it originally was - a foundry.
-
Chicago Transit Authority 500-544 series Opus buses should now be moved to the "retired" list. Last service was around March 1st, and remaining ones at garages are now sitting sans fareboxes and bike racks awaiting the trip to the shops.

You can drop Archer garage from list - closed 2/7/09. Same day all remaining 6000-6329 series Flx Metros OOS account service cuts. Most stored at former Archer garage now pending official retirement. Few Chicago roster adds/corrections: 130-131 were two standard 35-foot Flxibowls refitted with lifts for paratransit service. Only two in series. After paratransit was contracted out, both became "work trucks". 3239 and 3695-3699 were later refitted with Detroit Diesel engines. Flx old look 8149 had a Leyland diesel when new, got standard propane FTC-180 later on. 8499 (the real hybrid!) new with standard old-look front and Detroit Diesel engine. "New Look" front put on before entering service, but after delivery. (Photos exist of original front in scrap pile at CTA main shops!). Was fitted withj several experimental engines in its first few years, including a propane one, but ended up with a Detroit again, which it still has. Has not run in some years now, but still owned by CTA.
