Turns out that the owner of New York Bus Service is the Uncle of current Suffolk Bus Corp/Suffolk Transportation Service, Inc President John J. Corrado. The relation is mentioned in this article http://www.schoolbusfleet.com/article/724903/corrado-boosts-accountability-in-school-bus-contracting, though it's not stated on which side of the family the connection is.
