    Transcollines

As much as a direct trip to downtown Ottawa would be a boon, I wonder if the STO forces them to transfer to their services. If so this is unfair. Leduc for instance offered Clarence-Rockland Transpo riders a one seat ride to Terrasses de la Chaudière via Ottawa. One seat rides are a proven way to get commuters out of their cars, especially in the National Capital Region.
  3. Off topic but 417 did bring back the service, albeit 3 days a week. https://transpo.417busline.com/
  4. As mentioned previously, "3 Montgomery" is not the route name per se but merely indicates the furthest extent from Métro Longueuil to differentiate from other routes. Soucy would probably perform this better. I don't know if Secteur Laflèche is indicated on the destination sign as I like to keep a close eye on that sort of thing, but it would be a welcome addition. Most people know where the 3 goes (the routing has not changed in decades, so putting more ephemeral exposures would only serve to confuse the public. The route does so many dog legs in Laflèche that it would be difficult to isolate one road in particular to sign up. Montgomery was likely chosen because of the distance covered by the route compared to other streets. I did some fooling around on the wayback machine, and as late as 1998, Panama as we now know it was still referred to by the AMT as Terminus Brossard. 5. I am not a TTC employee but I do drive a city bus. My opinion is this. Do you want a defined benefit pension at retirement? Is it worth sacrificing your social life? Only you can answer this question. With regard to food breaks... I have long given up on bringing cutlery and full meals to work. I eat at home... what I can snack on at work without sullying up the work station (bananas, cookies, for instance) goes a long way in lieu of depending on fast food which is an excellent way of getting fat. I buy the case of bubly at Costco, cheaper and in many regards healthier than expensive cans of soda at vending machines. Again, another excellent way of becoming fat and diabetic. There are almost 500 pages worth of discussion on joining the TTC, I don't know if you have hours to burn by reading through it all, I wish you luck all the same. And don't let the bastards get you down.
  6. Whereas 2010s do not have the accessible sticker, 2011s now do because they were retrofitted to become accessible buses, as they were not put in service as such when new. Since they have the wide front door, management might "cheat" and shove a 2010 on an accessible route even if the ramp at the front may not be functional. I suppose it is a partial violation.
  7. I know a shill when I see one.
  8. I got an accessibility violation this morning. 20715 on the 31/37/47/549 interline. I did not complain when I was assigned my bus and no passenger was negatively affected. The new OPUS card reader was glitchy, but ultimately ended up working. Very disappointing when newfangled technology cannot fulfill the minimum requirements!
  9. The block ID is the run number. Currently, the operator leaving Napoleon and Oceanie (HASTUS code naoc) heads to TCV as a 44, then deadheads to Terminus Longueuil (HASTUS code mtro) to start a 15 heading once again to TCV.
  10. Thanks for this very valuable update as I am rarely in Boucherville. Upcoming service changes for booking (board period) effective 3 April 2023, here are the most salient facts: 5, 42 gets an extra trip in AM rush 55 service reduction, headway goes from peak actual 12 to 15 min service 73 service reduction, headway goes from peak actual 5 to 7-8 min service, with contrapeak service reduced 90 service increase (probably for the last time): 4 extra trips to TCV in AM rush, with 2 extra trips returning from Bonaventure 170 service increase: 60 min headway in effect since COVID returns to pre pandemic 30 min service 199 service increase: 2 trippers in AM rush and 3 trippers in PM rush 299 seasonal service ends 461, 1 extra departure leaving Touraine at 440 am and leaving Radisson at 503 from Metro Radisson When the REM gets an official opening date, I will unveil the service changes. We know that it will not be before Easter Monday, as we have booked non-REM work for Good Friday and Easter Monday. I just want to add, in the past these BYD shuttles were only given out to spareboard ops, so if someone got it (by whatever means - seniority, shift exchange, overtime) that wasn't trained on the BYD, they will get a LFS. So we cannot 100% blame the roadworthiness of the vehicle for not being on the road.
  11. I want to say 284 is run with Novas but cannot confirm.
  12. 21303 on the 90 in am rush made a rare appearance at autoparc Panama. It required an immediate changeoff due to check engine light automatically shutting down the bus. Vehicle replaced with spare bus 20703. In pm rush 21303 found itself on the 90 again (probably fixed) and 20703 was seen operating an accessibility violation on the 43.
  13. I urge everyone to stay on topic. Please create a new topic in another forum for any ancillary unrelated subjects pertaining to the TTC. Thanks for your cooperation and good luck to the future candidates!
  14. Addenda: rectangle goes grey if vehicle is deemed to be off-route (even if it is not).
  15. For the record, the RTL observed the minute of silence, and this was broadcast on the RAAO (radio). Participation was optional, and obviously done if safe and allowed. I myself did it in Sector R while driving the 46. I even wore the tie that day, which I reserve for special occasions nowadays. Here is hoping that this type of incident never reproduces again.
  16. Oops! I was issued 20924 on the 39/47 interline in ot in am rush. I silently accepted the accessibility violation. Nobody was negatively impacted.
  17. OK so basically you have from left to right the colours yellow, green, and red. RTL considers on time to be within 3 mins late to 1 min early. This would be considered the green zone. Running later than 3 mins puts you in the yellow zone. Conversely, running hotter than 1 min will put you in the red zone. If the rectangle becomes red, there could be loss of communication or even GPS from the network. If the rectangle becomes grey, I believe it is in reference to the system logging you out because you have completed the assignment. It is true that the control centre (dispatch) can manually log you in to Chrono if the operator fails to do so. It isn't guaranteed though that this maneuvre would remotely change the destination sign, as this feature does not necessarily function with all buses.
  18. Over the course of time, some exposures do get removed (almost with immediate effect) whereas others are still there.
  19. Not a great day for the STL https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/bus-hit-daycare-laval-1.6740987
  20. It is unlikely that the 72 will return in that format or iteration. The RTL likes for their routes to have at least one end serve a terminal. CTCUM 72 was a bit of an oddball in terms of being a very local route and not serving any terminal or Metro Longueuil. If I were the operator, I would be hard pressed to find a restroom along the route. Management would have to make a deal with a tavern or restaurant along the way for their employees to use the facilities. STM actually does this right now. You might disagree with the routing of the 75, but ridership has been built over the decades along streets like Brébeuf, McGill, and Chatham. The end of the route is probably grandfathered in by the CTCUM era and the neighbours are used to buses whereas going on new streets will just trigger the NIMBYs. The distance between Joliette and chemin de Chambly is not insignificant and the RTL does have service standards to meet. Domiciles cannot be more than x metres from a RTL bus stop. All of this is explained on the website if you wish to look up the details. I have a story of some interest. I drove C20710 this morning on the 5/59 interline. While it had the new reader installed... it did not work for passengers. I was able to plug data into the console but here is the rub. I had one TCV bound trip, but the system would not automatically sign it up on the internal code 5A for TCV, so I did it manually. When I interlined to the 59, the system signed it up as 59 TCV, so once again I had to go to manual mode and put in 59A for Terminus Panama. I guess it cannot always be attributed to operator sloppiness and laziness for incorrect exposures, but you'd think that the newest technology would help us out a bit!
  21. I can only surmise that there was enough local ridership to justify the city to continue funding the local shuttle. I would say that it became a convenient option to the parallel revenue service routes passing Promenades Montarville every hour. The advantage of those BYD shuttle routes were to provide one seat rides to various trip generators. No other municipality seemed willing to continue to fund their local routes, again due to cost, ridership, and competing parallel service, even if undesired transfers were to be the end result.
