  1. really hope this can happen especially since the subway is going up here eventually. this will provide a limited express service DT while the subway bridges the gaps in between. the only limiting factors are that many stations are in the middle of BF nowhere (oriole, bloomington, old cummer) perhaps, a RH, Langstaff, oriole and union off peak service?
  2. WOW theyre only 13 yrs old... why the early retirements?
  3. wow cant believe the first LFXs are being replaced already... i remember first riding them when they had their plastic blue wheel covers
  4. no its actually a very educated assumption given the history of public works here. do you honestly expect york region to hire financially unstable contractors to do their jobs? in fact its probably why its taking so long... the big contractors can afford to milk it because they know they can do what ever they want and still get paid. i also find it hard to believe material delay is a worthy excuse for them. competent construction management wouldve staged all the materials before hand instead of procuring as they are constructing. regardless its simple poor construction management. whoever the CMs are if this happens on a condo site, they wouldve been fired long ago
  5. speaking of waitng.... check out all the hwy 7 vivaastations... they dug out all the platform edges and just LEFT.... seriously whos the construction manager of this?! how incompetent are they that they would just leave a half done repair job sitting for weeks.... If theyre not ready to rebuild the platform in 1 shot DONT DIG IT UP AND LET IT SIT!
  6. not surprising given the massive inflation of all materials in the market... just goes to show that the fetish with subway tunnels has reached an unaffordable peak
  7. Daydreaming car driver??? hopefully theyll release the dash cam footage
  8. if the carbodies of new order looks anything remotely close to that render id be severely disappointed. the TRs were already uninspriing with their utilitarian design... the render is just an effortless rehash with tweaked doors and windows along with a facelift of the nose. Surely they can find some industiral designers in north america who has more artisitc creativity than that...... ?
  9. no way theyll renumber regardless of timing. the marketing is all there and as youve said the signage... dates dont affect the designations
  10. thats a shame....we were the first in the province at the very least to have auto announcements and now we are lagging behind with 17 yr old tech.
  11. iirc there was mention that crystal's voice recently was finally updated for the first time since 2005. is that true?
  12. and thats why people hate unions and rightfully so... before they even start heavy negotiations they already push their members to voting for a strike mandate as leverage. union heads are the scum of the earth when it comes to the bargaining table
  13. well... their incompetence is prob a reason why their previous entity failed to stay in the market which led to their sale.
  14. thats a pretty empty statement. Got any supporting facts on that to justify your allegations?
  15. FINALLY!!!! they were the pioneers of automated voice stops in 2005 but never updated...
  16. IMO sometimes it takes a more aggressive approach to get things going. You cant always play the nice guy or else they would take advantage of it. Its a selfish industry here where everyone is looking to their own interests. I doubt we would have any sort of integrated fare structure in the GTA or a common pay system without Presto. Given the track record, everyone will still be wasting millions on their own proprietary system that probably would have the same bugs and complaints as Presto. Years would be lost on endless studies and pilots. TTC would still be using their ancient tokens and never grow up. Love it or hate it, at least ML called the shots for everyone to follow, just like a party whip. One positive aspect is that the bulk of development of presto was part of ML's scope, leaving everyone else to save their resources for other projects. They just paid for the final installation and upkeep of the product
  17. I am by no means being apolegetic to them, but by no means are they useless. Depsite their faults they still have managed to pull together the majority of the GTHA to integrtate their transit systems. Where will we be without them? Idd bet TTC will still be trying to power trip alone with their ancient tokens and we would have no common fare media like presto. On another note, ive seen the quality of your posts throughout the years here and on UT. While I do acknowledge that you are very well versed in the technical and political aspects of this realm Im sure Im not alone in saying that you need to work on your tact when rebutting. Basically more times than not youre acting like a pompous know-it-all dick.
  18. So its the semantics of writing prose that you are riled about? Honestly I think it will in your best interest to not get so worked up over such trivial matters. So what if theres more sentences than you would like. Your time and energy would be better suited over more productive things. In an ideal world yes, we can have plenty of subterranean storage facilities, but it makes much logical sense why most systems do not have it. As mentioned in the red para, it would cost exponentially more time and money to do this, not to mention the right soil conditions. Besides, whats the point in having and underground yard when the terminus station right next to it is above ground? One thing you need to remember is that this presentation is NOT for transit fanatics like you or other armchair experts in this forum or urban toronto. They are for common people as well as stakeholders who need more simple guided descriptions as they are not technically as well versed.
  19. what part of it is untrue though? Isnt it already canon fact that tunnelling is exponentially more expensive than above ground works? As PR you need to say in a way that is logical and postive to readers, but nothing is factually false here
  20. only way for a viable impementation is to use dedicated ROW such as the mississauga transitway.
  21. yea the right side from the middle door onwards toook a huge swipe... less than 600k on the odometer too!
  22. i think the improvements they proposed was in hope that the covid situation improves and service gets better, but clearly many are still turned off transit. sucks but understandable
  23. any news on the LFSes? NFI has delivered their share of their electric buses but nothing yet from Nova.
  24. I'm curious on what their process of elimination is and why it will take almost a year to pick amongst the 3 bid packages. Most of these contractors are not new so its not like they have to interview many fresh applicants.
  25. Are the new XD60s in service yet? they arrived a few months back but no further info nor any changes to the wiki about it. Same goes for the electric trial buses
