  1. I didn't even know this until tonight. For the last year, I've been wondering why the low-1200s were being refurbished despite their age. Also all 32 new buses are in. 29 40 ft buses (2101-2129) and three 35 ft buses (5016-5018). 2101-2110 are at Victoria while 2111-2129 and 5016-5018 are at 18th Street. These are also the first buses in the fleet to have driver shields. Other happenings recently 1508, 1509, 1512, 1513 & 1516 have moved to 18th Street, leaving 1507, 1510 and 1515 as the only 1500s at Victoria Blvd. 112 has been re-routed to Patrick Henry Mall, 119 now runs from Fishing Point to CNU/Riverside and now runs on weekends and until midnight. Downtown Norfolk Transit Center opened in January.
  2. I wish Hampton Roads Transit still had Flxible Metros, and had New Flyer D60LFRs, New Flyer DE42LFA, Orion VII OG and the Gillig Trolley Replica.
  3. Hello, I wanted to know if I could request a 2011 Gillig Advantage in the HRT livery? Reference pictures: I apologize if this isn't the place to request buses.
  4. I hope if HRT gets some they base these on the peninsula since we need some more buses to replace the retiring 500s.
  5. Yeah, but there are a few on the Southside, but they might have retired. Also, we have some new 40ft Gilligs at the peninsula base numbered 2047 - 2052. They do look kind of different from other Gillig Low Floors in the back.
  6. I think that most, if not all of the Orions have been retired as well as most of the trolleys and a few of the S50 Phantoms. Right now our fleet is basically all Gilligs, with the exception of any possible Orions remaining, the remaining trolleys, the 14xx Chance Opuses and our Handi-Ride buses. HRT is also ending all service to the city of Suffolk by the end of the year because of poor performance. My guesses for why it didn't go so well: - Suffolk Routes did not run on Saturdays or Sundays. - There was only one connection to Portsmouth and Norfolk; Route 962, which didn't even run during midday, effectively leaving bus riders stranded in Suffolk until the PM peak period.
  7. Pentran - 1999 Gillig Advantage T-35 [Cummins ISC + Voith D864.5; 1201 - 1222] TRT - 1999 Gillig Advantage T-35 [Cummins ISC + Voith D864.5; 1223 - 1229] Pentran and TRT merged to form Hampton Roads Transit only a couple of months after these buses arrived, hence the correlation between the fleet numbers. We didn't get any 40-foot low floors until 2004 on the Peninsula (Newport News/Hampton) and 2006 on the Southside (Norfolk/Portsmouth/Chesapeake/Virginia Beach).
  8. Hampton Roads Transit seems to have no problem with transit fans (probably because there are only about 4-5 in our area). In fact, on the Hampton Roads Transit Facebook page, they seem to embrace our photos and our ideas and are not hesitant to answer any questions about internal operations to members of the general public.

  10. Hampton Roads Transit had quite a few 6V92TA equipped buses: - 1985 GMC RTS T8J-204 (retired around 2003-05) - 1989 TMC RTS T80-206 (retired around 2007-09) - 1989-92 Flxible Metro 40102-6T (retired around 2009) - 1993-95 Orion 05.501 (currently being auctioned off) After this year I think the only buses with Detroit Diesels in the fleet are going to be our '95 Gillig Phantom which had a Series 50 engine.
  11. Sorry for the bump. I just had to mention this. There is no doubt that this is one of the new buses, because every roster that I have seen only goes up to 4024.
  12. Oh sorry about that. I was in a rush earlier, and didn't read everything until I got home. Here's my revised order: Model: AM-130 Engine: Diesel Hybrid Air-Cond: Standard Windows: Frameless, Tinted Doors: Front Bike rack: No Wheels: Chrome Displays: Gen4 Color/Livery: - Back: http://i664.photobucket.com/albums/vv4/sha...57/DSCF7444.jpg - Driver side: http://i664.photobucket.com/albums/vv4/sha...515333d96_z.jpg - Front: http://i664.photobucket.com/albums/vv4/sha...0919609c3_z.jpg - Passenger side: http://i664.photobucket.com/albums/vv4/sha...b67c0f5fd_z.jpg Logo: http://i664.photobucket.com/albums/vv4/sha...7/Hrt_logo2.png Markings: wheelchair License plates: No Ramp: front door
  13. Thanks for the last model. I didn't expect it to be finished so fast.
