  1. I haven't seen any postings for any printing shops, but if I do it will definitely be something I'll apply to. Not keen on going to another retail situation, as I doubt my grievances would be addressed in any material way, and I'd take a pay cut on top of that.
  2. When it has been decommissioned, and no longer considered property of the TTC.
  3. I've long given up on trying to find work in journalism, which is what I studied. But if I wanted to get a job in a skilled trade, that would also require several years of school, surely? Plumber, electrician, coder, those are all things that could probably be "learned" through YouTube, but I can't imagine anyone would want to hire an electrician who learned their trade over the internet. I know I wouldn't. So that's a minimum of several years before I can get a proper job. I'm currently looking into school for something more worthwhile than journalism, but I wouldn't be qualified for anything for quite a while. I don't want to make the leap to another retail job, that would be every bit as terrible, but possibly with less pay. What I'm trying to do is get a receptionist / office assistant/admin type job, and change my situation in the short term. Education is all well and good, but this is a problem I am trying to sort out quicker than a few years. This seems like it would be a worthwhile fit for me, having lots of experience with managing people and attending to administrative and on the ground problems. A lot of the postings locally either offer an even lower wage than mine is currently, so that's no good, quite a few (over Indeed) obfuscate the identity of the employer (major red flag), and a few spots for dental receptionist demand dental experience, which seems... odd for a receptionist job, and it's of course not a field of work I have experience in. Opening myself up to commuting opens up more opportunities, but considering that transit fare from my place to Toronto is a minimum of $10 + possible TTC fare, minimum wage is hardly going to cut it. When I see something that would be a material improvement over my current situation, and that I'm qualified for, I apply to it, but considering that when I lost my previous job at the end of 2018, I was unemployed for a year and a half... I'm not holding my breath.
  4. Inventory approaches. Apparently, you can't request any time off during inventory because retail workers are actually servants of the company. No compensation is offered either, like a bonus for the inconvenience of having to put your personal life on hold, or having management actually back you up against abusive customers, we must arrange our personal life around a soulless business that cares nothing at all for us so that they can do their stupid count which will be off inside of a week since they don't want to pay to have loss prevention in the house at all times anyway. I've begun looking for other work, I've had enough, but where I live there's basically no opportunities except for retail.
  5. I have been shown a photo of the car without the front panel at Leslie from a few days ago, it definitely didn't pick this up today.
  6. I still don't think 4604 is ready for service. This morning, it did a few OOS runs from Roncesvalles to Dundas West and back and is now in the shed at the carhouse.
  7. Anyone who remotely cares about any of their favourite media would do well to own a copy of it. Streaming services are fickle, and there is no telling when your favourite movie or TV show will be taken off that service, or modified. Remember when there was the very real threat of Arrested Development being removed from Netflix, including the seasons that Netflix themselves produced? Own your own media, folks.
  8. 4604 emerged from Russell, did a run to Woodbine loop, then made its way down to Leslie where it is presently.
  9. 4605 is in Toronto. Likely to be unloaded Tuesday or Wednesday. https://www.instagram.com/hopkindesign/?img_index=1
  10. No one intended for the SRT to be shut down either. Vancouver is still running the SkyTrain just fine.
  11. What kind of barrier is this that it has to connect to the air system?
  12. It definitely ran after 2007. According to my roster notes it last ran in October 2014, which is confirmed by sightings posted on the same thread a few months later.
  13. I would be curious to see a cost/benefit analysis to explain why water logged 4471 and 4478 are still (ostensibly) active, while they (allegedly) gave up on 4468. It seems something similar happened to a much older 4206 in 2007 - and that one ran in service for another 8 years afterwards!
  14. Apart from achieving some feel good branding, what's the point? Route renumberings should not be done without a very convincing reason for it. Renumbering the 11 to the 111 doesn't improve wayfinding or offer any information the old route number didn't offer. If someone needs to use the 11, they will use it regardless of if it's classified as an express or not.
  15. From my experience working for a multi billion dollar corporation, I would be astounded to find out that Walmart has sensors that automatically detect that inventory is getting low. These people use systems as primitive as possible to keep costs low. At my store, if our inventory says we have a stock of less than 5 it's a total crapshoot as to whether tad have any in the store at all. Pet peeve: customers who interrupt you while you're already engaged helping a customer to ask for help. Last week this happened to me at least 5 times. What kind of new epidemic of stupidity is this?
  16. From the notes of John Bromley: 4412 on EXHIBITION WEST 522 was in collision with an automobile on 800813. The car was sold to E Attia, Stone Cottage Inn, 3750 Kingston Road, Scarborough, Ont, for use as an on-site adjacent lounge to their restaurant. It was later donated to Fair Havens Bible Camp, Gamebridge, Ont, and loaded for shipment to that location on 910429. It was photographed on the flatbed on 910501, still at Stone Cottage Inn. I have no information on if the car still exists.
  17. Perhaps people would have more sympathy for you if you didn't call those you disagree with retarded, or advocate for turning the city into a dictatorship to deal with the rising crime rate, or call someone telling you to STFU and do your job a Nazi (do you not see the contradiction here?), or derail a thread on here at least once a week for as long as I can remember venting your spleen. This isn't the Canadian Public Transit Discussion Board anymore, it's the TransitMotorCoach's petty grievances discussion board.
  18. We're splitting hairs here, but the Q is the name of the service. It runs along several different corridors, including the Broadway line, Brighton line, and, yes, Second Avenue Subway. Should the Second Avenue Subway be extended south one day, it will also be served by the T. It is not common for legacy subway lines to be referred to by their ancient corridor names outside of a historical context. But the overwhelming majority of discourse about the northern rerouting of the Q referred to it as the Second Avenue subway, not the Q rerouting/extension. In practice, few people refer to any of our lines by their names, either. You say to a tourist they need to take the 1, not the 1 Yonge-University. It doesn't change anything about the stupidity of calling the line the Ontario line. If the name is not going to make a useful reference to somewhere the line goes, it would be best to not have any line name at all. Which is also fine, few European cities name any of their services at all and they get by just fine. Because that is the only line that has been built in New York in the modern era.
  19. Buying anything from a grocery store is a major pet peeve. At Starsky this evening I waited 25 minutes in line before I could finally pay for my stuff. A good 30-40 people waiting and only 4 cashiers available. Long line ups are nothing unusual at grocery stores, having to use anything but self check out (which I hate and think is a terrible, cynical, ghoulish idea) is like pulling teeth. But at least the CEO gets his nice bonus and company perks.
  20. Well, yes, because Line 1 Yonge-University refers to the location the line runs. Ontario line would have been like the Second Avenue Subway being called the America line.
  21. Perhaps your career prospects have been jeopardized by comparing your higher ups to actual Nazis. Crazy thought, I know.
  22. https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/ttc-ceo-says-further-transit-closures-possible-after-derailment-of-aging-srt/article_f79ea6f4-a3be-565d-a63d-be11ed39df87.html World class city, folks.
  23. That is also a possible solution, yes. But unless the service could be relied on to appear decently frequently and reliably, then you'd get the same problem as before. If it were me I would institute stops for all NB routes on McCowan at Bushby and be done with it. (In front of McCowan station is also a possible solution, but the bus would have to cross two full lanes of traffic to access the very short left turn lane, so I reckon during rush hour it would be horrible). 24. Well, no, because services are tailored to the locale they are running to. If you split up the Kennedy-STC and STC-McCowan service and run them according to the level of demand, it gives each branch the level of service they require. For the same reason that you wouldn't run the same level of service on the 33 Forest Hill bus as you would on the YUS line. Let's not sit here and pretend there was nothing at McCowan at all - there are a few condos, a plaza, and a business zone within walking distance of the station. To get to STC from there would generally be pretty inconvenient, especially if you have mobility challenges or the weather is inclement. That being said, waiting specifically for a shuttle bus, rather then getting on the first 9 or 134 that comes by (or 16, 38, or 133, if you are closer to Ellesmere Road) would be pretty foolish, so that's probably where the ridership went.
