  1. Good point. I know it may be incomparable, but I am aware that Bellevue, WA (another area I researched transit of for fun) local buses are much more frequent in the suburban areas than the majority of Connector buses (20-30 min apart vs 30-60 min apart for the all day routes). And the WMATA is recovering slower than Seattle/Bellevue light rail/buses and even other cities in the US. (My bus to Central in a suburban area of HK was every 20 minutes most of the day). 550 bus to Seattle also seems pretty good. Yes, I know that area is a transit success story.
  2. I visited New York in the summer to see family, and found out that the MTA express buses have a very high subsidy, even higher than ferries which were controversial (and are getting fare system changes). Is it very controversial in terms of funding isssues and are the express buses going to receive the same treatment or even be cut?
  3. Second post here. (well, first was the same thing on the WMATA thread, which I accidentally posted.) I moved to this area from Hong Kong (which has much better public transit) and in July/August took a Fairfax Connector route 463 bus around 4pm from Tysons. Aside from me, all other passengers were probably 50 or over, and only 5 other people were on the bus when I got off at Maple Avenue. This was the 2nd bus I took in the DC metro area, the first being a Metrobus 38B that probably had 10-20 riders around 10am from Ballston to Georgetown. Is low ridership normal for the routes around Vienna (46x)? Can someone with some experience tell me their thoughts?
