TTC Orion VII Retirement Tracker
TTC7957 replied to Mar_AC_23's topic in Sightings for Greater Toronto Area
They aren’t that reliable either. A lot of maintenance happens towards all the units and many shift back and forth from Hillcrest, more than any other bus fleet. If you compare them to the NG and 3G buses those are much more reliable and almost always the entire fleet is at Wilson and in service so….but wouldn’t make sense for them to get rid of most of the 7900s and 8000s before new buses come either -

Arrow doesn't have AC charging. They are just there for whatever they are doing with them. Perhaps there is a convertor or maybe they shift from Eglinton to there time to time -

Also to add to this, #3751 and 3757 are back and were at Wilson Station with a bunch of orange vest guys inside. Both returned to Arrow Road Garage and they are right at the back, just barely visible from the fence. #3759 is also at Arrow Road next to #3751, the electric bus wrap is gone and its missing its bike rack. It is what I believe that #3754 never ended up moving from that location in the first place, but just nobody noticed it was still here because its only one of two tracking in eglinton while the rest that moved around aren't tracking. #3752 must also be at Eglinton, maybe inside. -

I think there was also a problem with the wheel axles bc a few buses had to get maintenance on that quite a few times above normal. There was a BYD bus that had something fail while it was doing a tight turn. There was also many more consistent issues with the buses not handling sharp turns properly as well and who knows what else there is that wasn't disclosed. -

Yeah for sure, but tbh I wouldn't be too surprised. The buses never were able to fit through some overpasses in city due to the height, safety issues (which they never disclosed to the public), battery discharge issues and electrical system issues, and a buggy system in general along with quality control problems. You'd think after all the garbage the city has ordered in the past they'd learn by now, but they definitely didn't. BYD bus #3752 actually came back to the city recently (not sure if it's still here), I think a week or two ago. It was the only unit here and it wasn't even on TTC property, it was at 843 Eastern Avenue (311 City Vehicle maintenance area). I guess lets see what happens because there is bound to be an official announcement or something soon about the situation eventually... -

Due to a “critical safety issue” and numerous other problems with the BYD bus fleet such as height clearance and battery/electric issues, they have been permanently removed from service. At least that’s what I heard.. -

Spoke to an operator today on the 34 about what happened to the BYD's, he claims they are now withdrawn from the ttc fleet due to quality issues from his knowledge. If that is really true, I wouldn't be too surprised, but could anyone confirm? -
Toronto Fire Rescue 325 and Pumper 332 were dispatched to a fire call on bus 9205 at Castle Frank station earlier today. I heard it was because the bus was revving while stuck or something like that so it caught fire.

I believe it was a large white cloud from the rear but emergency personnel had responded to the situation. -

not sure where to put this, but a TTC novabus hybrid caught into a moderately big fire at warden station today outside of the bus terminal. No idea on unit # but seemed like it was running on 102 prior to the fire -
I was on 8964 on the 12C yesterday and I noticed that the entire NSS display was turned off and not functioning at all, I also noticed that there was a radio next to the operator, which you could constantly hear other operators and TC talking through.

TTC 7976 was at Main Street Station with a 64 Main sign up around 10:40PM, it went to the layover bay and came back on 87C Cosburn. It was being driven by an operator with what looked like a supervisor vest.
