not really confirmed retired yet. It can comeback to service just like what 7255 did. But even if WMATA decides to repair it, the bus is gonna be on a legal hold since someone was killed in the accident. But with that amount of damage, and the bus was just recently rehabilitated, it might just be retired instead. But who knows though.

If it has any frame damage,  then it's a total deal breaker. #7100 didn't look as damaged and they scrapped that bus.

Interesting, some Annex 7300s are on different lines. 7332, 7335, 7341, 7342, 7345 are on Montgomery lines, 7337, 7346 on Western lines.

Could be a sign of things to come.

Sweet. Nice to see Gillig finally tap into the Northeast a bit more. Besides these options, does it seem like NICE would continue into the future? I know they have talks about XE40s ans XE60s

Shame to see Orion fading away, though I was never big on Orion.

If I'm not mistaken if Gillig has these options picked up, then Gillig would be the majority of the NICE fleet, right?

NICE bus has around 300 or so buses, so once this order is completed and the last O7 is retired, the Advantage BRTs will be the backbone of the bus fleet. There are more Xcelsiors in the forecast though so I don't think that will be for long.

As for the next artic order, they are most likely for more XN60s, not XE60s.

We are only getting XE40s for now.

Damn, that bus is in even worse shape than #7100 or #7368. Needless to say, #7215 is retired and headed for scrap.....

Spotted MTA XDE40 9418 In Ohio this morning. I imagine it’s being delivered.

Welp, another one bits the dust.. 2009 Orion 7.501 NG hybrid #3973 is now retired from East New York depot IIRC.

Seems like these Hybrid NG retirements are happening at random as opposed to a sequence like the CNG NGs are in Nassau..

Pardon my ignorance, but does NICE plan to get any more Gillig buses?

Yes, there are 2 option orders with this contract.  Option 1 is for 40 buses (#2080-2119) replace/ retire the 2010-2011 Orion 7.501 NG CNGs #1800-1839 (#1800, and #1804 are already retired), and the second option is for 45 more units (#2120-2164) to eventually retire the 2012-13 Orion 7.501 EPA10 3G CNGs #1840-1884.

Once that happens,  that will be the end of the Orion 7 era for not only NICE,  but for most likely NYC as a whole as by then, the MTA probably would gotten rid of most of theirs too. Also the end of Orion in general as no other buses exist after 2013.

The routes temporarily just so the Cinder Bed LFAs can be inspected. Drivers will be based from Shep for rn.

Ok, that explains #6402 yesterday.  It all adds up.

Might finally see XD40s in VA (besides FFC's and DC Circulator's units).

REX would be going to Shep too it seems, closer deadhead than to FMR I believe and it was at Shep before Cinder Bed opened after all.

True, but during it's debut back in fall 2004, FMR had it. Last new buses they had were the 2006 Orion 7.501 OG CNGs. Hopefully they get new buses soon.

The 29s going there too again?

I think the only Orion Vs active for DASH are 95-97 and maybe 91 as the rest have not been tracked in a while.

The two Phantoms from OmniRide are still active last ik but idk if 102 is still running tho.

The MCIs I do not know as they do not track anywhere I look. Even using TranSee they don't have a last tracked feature for them.

As for XE60s, 903 is still not in service and idk the status on 904 as of yet.

I never see Orion Vs anymore, so I assumed they were retired since September. I don't see DASH keeping them past 12/31/2021 though. It looks like nothing else new is coming DASH's way anytime soon ( unless they get MCI D45CRT EVs or something)

Also saw XE60 #902 training in Landmark. Those things really do look like XN60s without the exhaust pipe.

IIRC, LACMTA has similarly spec'd XE60s..

I thought 6402 was on the 92 earlier? But Shepherd Parkway are suppose to do the Cinder Bed routes first while the LFAs are being inspected. Idk if FMR are suppose to do any runs though. Heard about 30 buses are reserved for Cinder Bed Routes though.

    Yeah the Artics are XE60s.

I saw #6402 about an hour ago, so you might be right. As for the 6300s.... I'm not sure 100% if they will be retired. Where will the REX run from anyway?

In my opinion,  give the REX back to Four Mile Run depot.

Lol, we're you waiting for that?

    Basically

Be that as it may, what I do find interesting about this update, is the implication that WMATA will test electric buses from more than one Manufacturer.

So in addition to more XE40s, we're might also get Proterra ZX5s (especially since DASH recently took delivery of some), and/or possibly the Nova LFS e as well as the Gillig Advantage BRT Plus EV.

The Artics are assumed to be New Flyer XE60s unless WMATA looks to BYD for buses....I doubt this.

and this is why you can never have anything good on subway systems. At least they’re still going on with the trips for next week last I heard. Also I heard there was gonna be a fight at 145th Street but nothing happened I heard. People gonna ruin it again next week I bet ?

This is totally unacceptable! The NYPD need to do their damn jobs. I actually hope Eric Adams have Cops beat the fuck out of these losers!!!

As for the R32s, they should just retire this set and pullout another one as they still have about 100 or so other units sitting in storage as system reserve cars. All they need is 8 spare units.

As for the bus fleet 2 notes: 1, the NYCTA Proterra BE40 Cataylist II buses are being sold off to Port Authority of NY&NJ for use as Airport buses for them instead of going back to California.  The Airports already have their own fleet of BE40s, so this is a steal for them, probably to replace some hand-me-down D40LFs/Advantages or some Orion 7s.

The second development,  the is now apparently a production halt for the 2021-2022 Prevost Car X3-45 order as there are many legroom complaints on the new buses (this does not seem to effect the previous 2011-12, or 2014-16 orders though). It would seem that the MTA will send a new specification layout to Prevost for this to be fixed, but the buses that they have now will likely remain in service unlike what had happened to the Nova LFS hybrids...

After six years from a very nasty accident, XDE40 7255 has returned to service out of Montgomery. Was on the L8 earlier today.

I thought that unit returned months ago?

Any update on 2016 New Flyer XDE40 Hybrid #7368?

  13. Things are coming down to the wire when it comes to the 2009 Orion 7.501 NG CNGs as several more buses retired over the week. #1737, #1764, #1766, #1770, #1776, #1787, #1788, #1789, #1792, and #1795 are ALL retired out of MF Depot. Only 5 more buses to go before this batch is history sadly.

Remaining units are the following: #1728, #1729, #1756, #1769, and #1782. Catch these CNGs now as these last buses could be gone by week's end.

As a side note, for the time being, #1785 and #1797 are NICE system reserve buses. Would be a smart move as a 2021 Gillig Advantage BRT Plus CNG broke down yesterday in Flushing on the n20G.

    #20XX

  14. Starting 1/2/2022, NICE is launching new schedule changes. By the looks of things, the n4X is going to take a big service reduction and the n41 MIGHT get eliminated and just stay as the n40 from now on. Also, the n35 will see service improvements (especially on weekends) and run til almost midnight.

I think they’ll do this too to see if West Ox needs to open yet. There are also rumors some 6100s will be moved to Cinder Bed but again, not 100% sure yet.

I can see that happening honestly as when you think about it, the current fleet is being stretched thin and I don't think WMATA wants to activate the new #4600 series XD40s yet. Are they really getting only 75 this year? And are we really not going to have a #4599 going forward? Someone in WMATA must know what the story with that bus is as it is very bizarre how they skipped that number.

  16. 9 hours ago, DCTransitFilms said:

Some who wanna stay will be relocated to WMATA garages I heard. Hopefully WMATA does sue for the damages.

    Any updates on West Ox?

Four Mile Run is going to be overwhelmed as in addition of running their own routes along West Ox's, now they going to run Cinder Bed's too? Sheppard's Parkway probably won't be enough. They should get Montgomery depot to help out too with West Ox depot's routes.

  17. 42 minutes ago, DCTransitFilms said:

Cinder Bed is suppose to be taken back by WMATA on Dec 26. Operators are being planned to be split between FMR and Shep for the time being until WMATA inspects the 6300s. Due to the conditions of some of the buses they might flat out be retired. It won't likely be until like March or summer when they'll do a full bus move again likely. Some of the former Transdev workers will also be move to WMATA I heard.

I thought they were going to FFC? I wonder if WMATA will sue Transdev for the damaged buses?
