  2. Depends on where you pick your hotel. I would stay in Edwardsville-STL area and avoid Granite City/East St. Louis area though, hotels their are ratty.
  3. You can take our Madison County Transit, 1X, 5, 14X, or 16X to St. Louis from Madison County. Or Metrolink into Missouri. And I do too.
  4. The first of 42 new 29 footer Gillig's. They are continueing the current number system. Sent to me by a delievery driver for Gillig. First buses should be here by end of next week.
  5. Thanks for the compliment! Anyway I am from Madison County, IL which boarders St. Louis, and St. Clair counties. Anyway Redbird Express is over for the season, but it was never cancelled. It was once due to a driver strike but it resumed later in the season. The Phantoms and the refurbished units run the Redbird Express.

  7. Yep! Also their new 30 footers. First since 2002. The Metrolink trains will also be recieving a new paint job, and a few have already recieved a new paint job. Great picture Chris!

September 2019 update, MCT has released the 2020-2024 Fiscal Budget, on that Budget in 2020 there buying 42 new 30 Footer Gillig Buses there supposed to buy 9+4+9+10+5 and add 5 to the fleet, as of now there are only 37 30 footers, (3001-3037) Total to replace all 37 30 footers is $20,254,300. Then the Paratransit buses 161-189 are slated to all be replaced by the end of 2020 with the total of 29 new units, $3,461,900. Nothing planned for 2021 besides new ridefinders vans $226.000, road supervisor vehicles $100,000, and maintmance vehicles ($200,000). In 2022 all 35, 40 footers (4001-4035) ar

  10. There is now a new route and some updates to routes. There is a new 22 University Shuttle, the 22 does Downtown Edwardsville, Axis Apartments, Greenhill Apartments, SIUE Peck Hall, Edwardsville Station. and Esic Neighborhood. They also revised the 17 Cougar Shuttle to only serve Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, the whole route is fare free and does SIUE Peck Hall, Cougar Building 519, Cougar Village Lot 4F, and Back to Peck Hall.   11. Also a Madison County Transit Employee and Friend, told me that MCT has ordered 42 new 29 (30") footer transit buses. The buses will be Gillig's. Have no other information. These 42 new buses will wipe out the current fleet of 3001-3037. Replacement is predicted to start in Fall 2020, When the 2010s are 10 years old. And I would imagine that they will replace the ones with high mileage, most mechanical issues first. No word on the 35's (3501-3504), or the 40's (4001-4035) yet.   13. There was also a Unit #200 when we had the new flyers.. It came from Complete Coach Works in 2007 and was retired in 2011. It was a 1996 New Flyer D40LF, Don't know the engine or transmission. There was also only one D35LF ,Unit#264 was a 1997 New Flyer D35LF, Don't know engines or transmissions. Originally they only had 201-241 and 242-263, but as ridership increased and the other New Flyers were breaking down they bought 200 and 264.. I also have no clue where 200 and 264 came from.. My connection (Dennis) told me that there original numbers were 200 was 9603 and 264 was 9722. Those buses
  14. In around 2017-2018 the 2013 Chevy turtletops for MCT have been retired and replaced by the 2017 Ford Turtletops. And the 14, and 14EZ don't exist anymore. And the #7, #8, and #10 all go to the new Alton Multimodal Transportation Center or as they call it Alton High Speed Rail station.

  17. Before Madison County Transit got their buses in the 1980s-1990s, Bi-State Developement Agency (St. Louis Metro) ran some of MCT's routes. They had 30 footer Fishbowls that ran the "Alton Bustle" and the "Levee Line". Someone in the bus lounge told me yesterday, And I thought I would share this history!

  22. Last Thursday, It was my first time riding the #1 Riverbend. I rode from Alton Station to Wood-River Station. It was also my first time on a 35'. It was a VERY nice ride!
