  1. And spotted on Reddit! https://old.reddit.com/r/Calgary/comments/1aisifu/where_do_you_think_this_guys_going/
  2. If it makes you feel any better, that's $24m to refurbish a 616m long bridge (both spans combined), while it cost Calgary $25m to build a 120m bridge. Sure, the latter's year-round, so we'll give it double credit.
  3. Hey all! Just moved to Ottawa from Calgary and am looking for a smartphone-friendly real-time bus tracker with map for OCTranspo. I've tried the OCBusTracker site but man, those massive ads are killer on mobile. I don't mind a small ad banner at the top or bottom, but the entire page is too much. Any other options out there? I saw a mention of the BusBuddy app from a few years ago in this thread - is that the most user-friendly choice? Any other options that's come up in the years since? Thanks!
  4. It's funny. People talking about the Arctic but don't do it on a regular basis often type it as "artic", and I'm always tempted to remark that we're not talking about buses here. Much rarer to see the inverse!
  5. Event on transit history at the Calgary Archives tomorrow morning if anyone can make it: (their link just takes you to the Archives page: https://www.calgary.ca/info-requests/archives.html)
  6. 8496 today with a love-it-or-hate-it livery:
  7. When did the 300 no longer require the additional fare when departing the airport? I know the Fare Innovations Report mentioned previously in this thread recommended its discontinuation, but didn't know it was actually adopted. Someone mentioned on Reddit today that fact, and I don't recall seeing an announcement anywhere. Sure enough, there's no mention of such a fare on CT's Fares & Passes page, and it's no longer an option for purchase in the MyFare app.
  8. Woohoo! Brentwood folks can now do their Sage Hill T&T shopping runs on weekends! (amongst other users/things, I guess)
  9. Classic CT comms, just casually confusing drunk/first time/occasional riders. Some youts on a Tuscany train thought this meant there were no more Blue Line trains and they'd have to figure out a way home from 7th St. Dunno if they believed me when I said the message's just a holdover from non-Stampede days.
  10. 7767 got...flooded? hailed in? slushed?...on June 29: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CuOJ7GXgj1Z/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA%3D%3D
  11. Some years in the near future: "Is this where I catch the Green Line?"
  12. That explains this unexplained "availability" of shuttle buses between City Hall and Erlton (note there's no preceding tweet regarding Red Line being down):
  13. So I wouldn't call one tweet "loudly", but they are starting to mention it. Of course, instead of linking to the actual Canada Day page, they just link to the generic service updates page:
  14. No answer to the question, but in case you're not aware, they were "borrowed" from Translink in Vancouver, which had illustrator Ed Spence produce them as part of their "Pet Peeves" series in 2011 and was adopted as a formal campaign in Spring 2013. That summer, CT adopted it: https://web.archive.org/web/20130613124354/http://www.calgarytransit.com/html/etiquette.html
  15. School routes stopped running as part of the Summer schedule that started today: https://www.calgarytransit.com/content/transit/en/home/news/summer-service-changes-2023.html
  16. Well that's the big qualifier, isn't it? Add to that one that actually fits your appointment schedule!
  17. I suppose my once-a-year trip on the 408 from Brentwood to my supervisor's house in Crestmont isn't really sufficient justification for the route...
  18. While obviously acute incidents like this still happen, the usual loitering in stationhouses has reduced dramatically in my experience. Brentwood, once a chronic shelter, is empty every time I've used it since the "crackdown", no matter whether it's past 12am or in the middle of the day. Whether it's because the increased policing worked or because the summer weather is encouraging more outdoors "camping" is a different question.
  19. Walked by, grabbed piccies to go with the Sad Engine (non)Noises. A number of BUS FULL units for the next half hour.
  20. A few shots of Proterras from today's trip to Banff. Really wish they didn't automate their dingers to sound off every few seconds - gets rather annoying when sitting on those lovely patios!
  21. There's an in-service TWO-car train today, Sunday May 21, operating on the northwest leg of the Red Line! Note passengers walking away from the train in the bottom photo as proof of service. Sorry for crummy cell quality!
  22. 8126 towed away from Brentwood (Coop gas station stop) this afternoon after sitting for a couple of hours.
  23. Can only speak for Brentwood, but they've had this on the monitors for the last several hours, and trains have been making announcements as they pull into the station:
  24. Oh man, not a refurb! Trains are arriving/departing Brentwood using the outbound side.
