  1. Interesting. I wonder if they would do any better in the US than they did last time. The quality of the LFS has definitely improved since Nova left the US market.
  2. I saw that bus yesterday in Kitchener at about 3:45
  3. Don't forget the D30LF and D35LF. Those are way better than EZ Riders and Bluebirds.
  4. Some people are so friggin stupid. At least they didn't torch the bus like what happened in Vancouver.
  5. Why do some of the buses have two license plates?
  6. For comparison, here is one of my favorite timetables, from the Keio Railway in Japan. (It looks infinitely better than the TTC ones)
  7. Some TTC photos from a light rain (I have no photos from heavy rain, as I try to avoid taking out my camera during a rainstorm)
  8. Those looks a lot like the GRT timetables Printed timetables would be very handy for the less frequent TTC routes, but for the routes on arterial roads that are supposed to run every 5-10 minutes, they are IMO kind of superfluous. Also, with the sheer volume of routes, it would cost a lot to make timetables for all of them. Perhaps the TTC could follow New York's model, and publish a large timetable that shows the frequency of all of the routes, and put the exact arrival times on the website.
  9. A summary of the tour has been posted on Spacing's website http://spacing.ca/wire/?p=2424
  10. Does anyone have fleet details/photos for Yellowknife transit?
  11. Not yet, at least. The GTTA is a very new organisation. Once they start to get their feet on the ground, I might support having transit systems run by the GTTA instead of their respective cities (and maybe even merged into one)
  12. From Steve Munro's site: *The new streetcars will be 100% low floor *Conversion to pantograph is very probable
  13. I saw one this summer in Toronto, although I don't remember the exact day. I was on a GO bus going eastbound on the Gardiner, and I saw it in the westbound lanes, at around Islington. All I thought at the time was "WTF is that". I only saw it for a few seconds, but it was definitely a Mercedes and it had European plates.
  14. Funny GRT story: I was riding 2424 at around 6:45 this evening, and a guy came onto the bus with a case of beer, and placed it over the front-right wheelwell, on top of the handrail and clear plastic newspaper case. 5 minutes later, a car cuts off the bus, the driver slams on the brakes, and the case of beer slides off, falls on the floor, and all 24 bottles break. So the bus smelled like beer for the whole ride home .
  15. I guess we can consider 2331 retired now. I doubt the TTC will repair it, seeing how new VIIs are coming .
  16. "Metrobus" is a bus system in Havana, Cuba, not Uruguay. The photos are most likely of the 100 Belorussian buses mentioned in this article. They will be used to phase out the "camel-buses" that are made of semi trucks.
  17. Nice looking bus. Did they buy any, or was it just a demo?
  18. 18 Wheels of Steel is actually pretty fun. (And it only costs around 20 dollars).
  19. Does CAT get funding from the FTA to buy these buses, seeing how they are 100% foreign built and all?
  20. Melbourne changed their entire tram network from poles to pantographs in the late 1980's. The TTC could use whatever method that was used in Melbourne to facilitate the transition.
  21. I'm more afraid that the lines will end up like 510 Spadina (no real transit priority), and the LRVs will end up waiting for the traffic lights to go through 2 or 3 phases before the transit phase comes up.
  22. Thats one of the old GO trains for sure
  23. Wikipedia says early 2008 I'm pretty sure they are going to be used on the 407 routes, at least initially.
  24. Unitrans in Davis California bought 4 V's in 2006. Has anyone else bought V's in 2006 and 2007?
