  4. FWIW, when my train passed that spot this afternoon, I saw a crew working on the track at the north side of 39th Avenue station. Couldn't quite see what they were doing though.
  5. The best part is that T55 shows 6080 went about its business after the flooding ended, like nothing happened!
  6. I was able to observe all three westbound Route 90 extras going through downtown not that long after midnight. 8057 and 8041 arrived first, back to back. 8079 followed a few minutes later. Interestingly, the 11:45 p.m. timed bus departures all left shortly before midnight, so no opportunity for connections. On the other hand, the Route 90s were all empty at that point, from what I could see, so nothing lost in actual fact. Also noticed a little glitch in the Transit app: Even though the added departures were technically visible, the route was listed as "Inactive". You had to know the extras were running to look up the schedule. That can't have helped.

I just noticed an addition at the bottom of the Calgary Transit webpage for Canada Day service. https://www.calgarytransit.com/content/transit/en/home/news/canada-day-service.html There is extended service on Route 90. From what I can tell, this information is not visible anywhere else — that is to say it's not in the app and not in the usual place where schedules are found on Transit's website. Four additional eastbound departures from University of Calgary at 8:45, 9:15, 9:45 and 10:15 p.m. Three additional westbound departures from Bridgeland approximately 11:20, 11:30 and 11:40 p.m. Given the departure times, I assume these trips are to help people get to/leave the fireworks site at Tom Campbell's Hill. (I wonder if these will be big buses rather than community shuttles.)
  9. I notice thanks to Transit55 there are now three articulated buses regularly operating all day on MAX Orange since the schedule change on June 28.

  11. 8220 appears to have been in a collision with an SUV. No obviously visible damage as I drove past, nor were there any passengers at that point. Both vehicles, along with a police car and two transit supervisor vehicles, were all parked in the left turn bay WB Bowness Road/Parkdale Blvd x Shaganappi Trail when I was in the area about 20 minutes ago.
  12. 7782 was out of service a few minutes before this photo on 1 St x 7 Ave SW northbound, so I’m guessing another vehicle was changed off of Route 6. Transit55 shows 7782 was on Route 11 before this.

More goodies found on Transit55 … • Route 504 (Stampede Express North) returns starting July 9 for the duration of Stampede. • Extended service on some bus routes serving the city centre, last departure at ~01:20 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 301, 302, 304 and 504 are the routes I see so far). You are right about weekends. I've seen some very full-looking Route 4's all through the spring entering downtown in the afternoons … and those only come only 37 minutes or so.
  17. I suspect there was a trade-off calculated here: the increased number of people returning to work at their offices this summer will likely be offset by the absence of students. For example, on a few of the busiest p.m. trips on the Red Line that I've used between Christmas and now, they all seemed to be filled with high school students returning home. If those kids are absent but train frequencies remain unchanged, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Transit55 shows peak-hour reductions on Route 3 and 301, for example, so that kind of tells you where planners think the ridership will (or will not) be. I can't imagine the north Calgary expresses being revived if they don't think there will be enough people riding still-frequent non-express Centre Street North services. Also, I'm also guessing the increased number of people out and about for social interactions will not necessarily be travelling during traditional peak hours.
  18. Regarding this one: If so, perhaps Transit would consider adding at least one stop each way along Parkdale Blvd. or Kensington Rd. to provide additional transfer opportunities? Currently the bus operates non-stop over the detour portion of its route. Never mind about that … I just checked Transit 55 and they have done just that. The frequency change is interesting — and I wonder if it's really necessary. Those layovers at U of C/Craigie Hall are quite long already in practice. (The buses arrive early, from what I have experienced.) This description doesn't make sense. I assume this means there is still no service on Route 305 this summer, in line with the continued suspension of express buses.
  19. A rare (to me anyway) route number sighting on the destination sign of a CTrain.
  20. 8287 was on Route 3 southbound, on what is usually a Stoney key. Just saw it being changed off by 8362 about 10 minutes ago. As it turns out, Transit55 shows 8287 changing off 8118 about an hour before that.
