  1. Thanks for the tips on cosmetic upgrades. I'll keep an eye open for that! What about more significant mechanical work? I had always assumed this typically happens after 12-15 years … although I know some transit agencies don't bother with refurbishing articulated buses and end up outright retiring them at that point.

  3. Are there enough trainsets trapped on the “wrong” side of the outage to provide adequate or frequent service?
  4. The CTrain has been out of commission in the downtown core all morning.
  5. Pardon the bump of this old conversation … but a question in another thread had me thinking about the fate of the oldest articulated buses in the fleet, which have been on the street for 14 years at this point. Is there any chance of these buses getting a midlife overhaul or perhaps even outright replaced? I know there's a surplus of 40-foot buses given the current service being offered and I wonder how that plays into things as well?
  6. 2041-2070-2032 just spotted eastbound on 7th Avenue, on Blue Line
  7. Just saw 6043 on Route 13 in the downtown core. (I’m imagining driving an artic through Mount Royal can’t be too much fun, eh? )
  8. 2202-2216-2207 seen going EB on 7th Avenue on Red Line.
  9. Another partial 17th Avenue Transitway closure this weekend, this time to accommodate "red concrete replacement" according to the Transit website's service updates page. And there is also an additional night closure listed on that page for next week, due to paving on 9 Ave. S.E. at the Transitway entrance.
  10. Just had time to look through your site, @Nick B. Amazing work!
  11. Just saw this train heading SB from the northwest … should be entering downtown shortly I imagine.
  12. A question about MAX Purple to Chestermere. This news article says: If I'm reading the info properly on Chestermere's website, there is no fare supplement to travel past city limits. Am I guessing correctly or have I missed something?
  13. 2050-2068-2039 just seen going eastbound on 7th Avenue on Blue Line.
  14. The western end of the 17th Ave. S.E. transitway is closed tonight. According to the Transit website, it's because "9 Avenue SE between 15 Street S.E. and 19 Street S.E. is closed for milling and paving work. The access to the SE Transitway to/from 9 Avenue S.E. will also be closed."
  15. Here's an English version of the press release I referenced earlier: https://rtl-longueuil.qc.ca/en-CA/news/press-release/2021/first-steps-toward-electrification-rtl-rolls-out-first-electric-buses-/
  16. RTL will be running its five new electric midibuses on some fare-free routes, as part of a pilot project: https://rtl-longueuil.qc.ca/fr-CA/midibus/ Here's a press release on the subject: https://rtl-longueuil.qc.ca/fr-CA/actualites/communiques/2021/premiers-pas-vers-l-electrification-de-sa-flotte-le-rtl-lance-ses-premiers-autobus-electriques-/ (None of this info appears to be available in English for the moment.)
  17. Unexpected STM appearance: a new television ad for a certain coffee/doughnut chain appears to have been shot inside an STM bus garage.
  18. Ah, good spotting … so the summary on the Transit website is wrong, then. I've edited my wording above to reflect this.
  19. … and the official list of fall services changes is up now as well. https://www.calgarytransit.com/content/transit/en/home/news/fall-service-changes-2021.html Route 89 will have one AM trip and one PM trip extended into West Hillhurst to serve the school(s?) near Kensington Road x 21 St. N.W. Route 14 has peak-hour improvements on the Bridlewood side that are not listed, with buses coming as often as every 4 minutes at times. Route 145 peak-hour improvements are underplayed on the list. AM buses scheduled as often as every 7 minutes; PM service is as good as every 5 minutes at times. Route 65 has gone back to its pre-pandemic service pattern — good news for peak riders and bad news for midday/evening riders. A few feeder routes (82, 123, 124, 129 and 138, from what I can see) are listed as having service improved during peak hours to 15 minutes or better.
  20. Schedules for fall are now visible on the Calgary Transit website.
