The search function on the wiki is very finicky now and requires you to type all of the capitals in a page title to see any pages after a space (eg: if you want to search up a Hamilton Street Railway page, you have to type 'Hamilton' instead of just 'hamilton' and such to see any pages).

This is also a problem on the visual editor. Linking certain pages has become quite cumbersome with the case sensitivity. In addition, when searching up key words instead of the first phrase in the title, hardly anything shows up.

    Hello,

    Please rename the following pages:

https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/Coast_Mountain_Bus_Company_Seabus to Coast Mountain Bus Company SeaBus (was renamed in the past, but the redirect seems to be broken now)

Mods: For this one, note the capitalization on SeaBus

Other than that, the other changes are pretty much in accordance with CMBC’s move to the stacked sign format for some routes.

  3. https://www.translink.ca/news/2024/september/commercial broadway skytrain station escalator replacement

The main escalators from platforms 3-5 (Expo Line) are undergoing replacement as of 2 weeks ago.

However, this evening I saw that they had installed a red fence along the north half of the station between platforms 3 and 4. I have a hunch that this is to deter people from using inbound trains to walk between platforms 3 and 5.

I think a long-term solution is needed. What you do is close platform 3 entirely (inbound platforms on the original station) and have platform 4 overtake the entire station area. In fact this might be better than the current setup in place since 2019, an inverted side-platform at that. I also think the south side of platform 5 is underutilized.

  4. I feel like none of y’all know how to spot 40ft buses on RapidBus/99.

Trippers are never special, this is where people keep getting kicked out of the ballpark

all-day/weekend runs are ehhhh. There should be enough artics to run weekends (and by default, all-day runs) but hasn’t been the case recently.

18300/24100 are more rare on R1/R6 than 9400s.

R3 40ft buses are never special because the ridership never warrants it.

R2, LFR sightings have been happening less lately

For planned trolley-diesel substitution, post in the trolleys thread

For snow-related stuff, post in general sightings.

Can someone enlighten me about why these units need to be replaced so quickly?

These are box truck chassis that are only really supposed to last 300k miles on the odometer. In other words, 5-7 years. At that point it’s more economically viable to replace the bus instead of sending it in for an engine overhaul.

This is a COMBINED thread since there will only be 15 units that will ever be mentioned here.

Capital budget mentions 6 double deckers for 2025 to replace the nine 2008 Orion V units. I say 2026 only because of the rate at which new buses are coming in later than originally planned.

RFI is posted to the Ariba page: It lists the delivery of the last unit to take place no later than the end of Q4 2026

  7. Never got around to this BUT a post in the dedicated Solaris thread points to a (possible) procurement consortium made up of North American trolleybus operators partnering with Solaris.

As I comprehend this would/could be Dayton, SF, KCM, and TL.

Someone has to dig up that presentation by MUNI
