This is a thread where people post photos of cutaway buses and vans, and see if others can identify them. I thought it would be useful, because I don't know many models and, while some look so similar, it is difficult to see who is who. This first one is an IC Bus, but is this an Allstar? IMG_5548 by GojiMet86, on Flickr I have no clue what this is. IMG_5547 by GojiMet86, on Flickr

More problems for the MTA regarding Bombardier's R179. A car actually detached from the rest of the train. https://gothamist.com/news/two-train-cars-suddenly-separate-chambers-street-station-prompting-mta-recall-r179-trains

QUITO Quito is home to a BRT system with 3 corridors. The city is narrow but long, and the corridors run in the center, east (oriental) and west (occidental). The trollebus corridor (Troncal Trolebus) is the oldest and uses a combination of the trolleybus and diesel articulated and biarticulated buses. Ecovia (Troncal Oriental) is the second one to have opened, and the third (Troncal Occidental) is run by private companies. Feeder lines run to terminals and some stations. All transit buses in Quito all under the Metrobus-Q brand but aside from the two city-control BRT lines, all other buses are privately owned by many cooperativas. The blue buses act as feeders to the BRT or as their own proper routes. Green buses are interparroquiales running between counties in the outskirts into the outer parts of the city. One thing I saw on this year I didn't see in 2016 were intraparroquiales, smaller buses that run in the Cumbaya county right next to Quito. These guys are painted white, with green on the bottom. There are two other color schemes, an all-red scheme, and a white with red. The white with red (ejecutivos) buses are special buses, but most of them are gone now. A site with maps of the routes is available here: https://callejero-ecuador.openalfa.com/quito/lineas-de-autobus The city and the privates have their own numbering systems and both are displayed. The big numbers on the sides of the blue and green buses is the city numbering, and a smaller one (recognizeable as being two digits, sometimes with a leading zero, usually at the front of the bus) is the companies own. The name of the private company is on the front of the bus (Paquisha, Trans Perifericos, Catar, Yaruqui, Flota Pichincha, Guadalajara, etc) and sometimes on the side. The trolleybuses (T001-T113) make up the first 113 of all city numbers (0001-0113). The all-red Marcopolos (D001-D042) have non-sequential city numbers (spread in the 1100-1300 range). The Caio Millennium II (A01-A80) have city numbers 2845 to at least 2923. I don't know yet the city numbers of the other two fleets (Mercedes-Benz O500M M01-M40 and the biarticulates V01-V80). The rest of the bus lines are run by private companies, which use a huge range of models and makes, too much to list......for now. The most common manufacturers are IMETAM, Imce, Miral, Picosa, Olimpica, Marielbus, Varma, and Zamora. A lot of units seem to have custom decals, and because the chassis is usually displayed on the bus, it has made it difficult to me to identify exactly what is what. The numbering isn't based on the model or year, but on the company. Each company has blocks dedicated to it and if an old bus is replaced, then the new bus takes the old number. Or there may be new blocks opened up later. All buses are high-floor buses. I did not see any exception to this. Buses that run on feeder lines or next to the BRT corridors usually have doors on both sides. BYD has been testing some models, unfortunately while I saw two units (one standard and one artic) I couldn't take good photos. The Quito Metro is also under construction, with an expected opening moving from 2019 to late 2020, but now with COVID-19 it may be pushed further down. The line will have 15 stations and will use 18 trains made up of 6 cars each. I've visited Quito twice now, so I'll be using photos from both trips. All the trolleybus pics I have in my possession except one were taken this year. CITY FLEET Mercedes-Benz O405G and O405GT (T001-T113) The first batch of 54 buses (01 to 54) came in 1995 and the second of 59 (55 to 113). They are dual-mode, since some sections have a change and are the only ones with right-side only boarding. All other artics have doors on both sides. A good number have been retired now (26) but the majority is still rolling, at least that's my general understanding (I have seen some sources saying that up to 60 were retired). There are plans to buy 70 new trolleybuses and 20 electric artics, which were supposed to be bought in 2019 but there are funding problems. One thing I haven't understood yet is if the corridor opened in 2001, what was used in between? Anyway, there were 42 and 5 of them were retired some years back. Noticed on this sheet that Proterra changed their first three VIN digits (1M9) to 7JZ. That gave me pause when I was looking up some of PANYNJ's Proterras. The VIN looked funny, but I guess it's official. https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/mid/home/displayfile/73a41851-e2d3-4a6f-b6dd-537c9c02329f

Is there a reason why Medicine Hat Transit uses the 700 numbers? I noticed their new Grande West Vicinity buses are using numbers from very recently retired buses.

Does anyone think Proterra will be building a 60-footer any time soon? ......Does anyone wish Proterra would build one? (slowly raises hand)

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gojimet86/ My YouTube is still going strong. I have completely stopped with the photobucket account. I don't know the deal with Photobucket, I was fine with it until they put payment and limits. And then there's the ads. I am thinking of eventually uploading the PB photos into my Flickr... ...But Flickr has been going through some rough patches recently.

Guess I won't have to go Germany for those DMUs. Those are one of my favorite European rolling stock.
