  2. Sorry for double-posting, but here's a couple more adds: The Coolidge Terminal is now closed for renovations, which began in January 2012. Currently, it is used only for dispatch services. The Shoemaker Terminal reopened in January 2012 and the garage list should be updated to take this and the above item into consideration. The Rosa Parks Transit Center's address is: 360 Michigan Avenue, Detroit, MI 48226. And this is off-topic, but still Detroit-related: SMART route #525 was also discontinued in 2011.
  3. Well, I want to show you something historical: via the Internet Archive, I found two old (and unofficial) SMART maps from circa late 2001/early 2002 that also show DDOT routes, as well as the Transit Windsor Tunnel Bus (in the downtown map). https://web.archive.org/web/20060615170102/http://detroittransit.org/Regionalbussystem.asp https://web.archive.org/web/20060615165853/http://detroittransit.org/Downtownbusmap.asp Plus, through one of the links within those two links above, I also happened to come across what is probably an older version of the official SMART website (before it switched to the smartbus.org URL): https://web.archive.org/web/20020809063308/http://smart.focalhost.com/ EDIT: Actually, the Focalhost site was only an unofficial site, as it mentions (and links to) the official website being at the smartbus.org URL.
  4. My favorite one taken within the past year (reposted from another thread): UPDATE: Here's a new favorite, taken a couple days back (funnily enough, I actually took this from right next to a bus stop shelter, though I had no intention of riding)...
  5. http://www.detroitmi.gov/Portals/0/docs/cityclerk/calendar_2013/Agenda/Agenda%2011-26-13_2.pdf That should work. The section that mentions the transfer of the D40LFs to SMART is near the bottom of page 5.
  6. Taken back in November 2011, an unknown SMART 2003 29-foot Gillig Low Floor operates route #160 on Biddle Avenue through downtown Wyandotte, MI. Sorry for the quality here... Do note that #160 service stops after 7 PM on weekdays, so the only time it operates at night is around the winter solstice, due to the daylight hours being shorter by then.
  7. Found this on Google: http://www.detroitmi.gov/Portals/0/Fdocs/cityclerk/calendar_2013/Agenda/Agenda/2011-26-13_2.pdf

  9. UPDATE: I now have another reason why I should be placed on the Wiki: I'm now thinking of trying to create articles about Detroit-area bus routes and complete the Detroit-area bus rosters as well.
  10. I believe this wasn't posted yet, even though the three buses were already delivered and placed into service nearly a year ago: http://www.smartbus....ummer-2013.aspx (the mention of the new buses is on the far left, near the top) All three buses are identical to the three 2011 hybrids-they all have the same livery style and all are 40' diesel-electric hybrid Gillig Low Floors with the BRT front. The 2013 buses are numbered #3006-08. EDIT: Acutally, I just found out that the 2013 buses are already on the Wiki.
  11. My first photo of 2014 that is actually bus-centric: SMART #23356 operates route #125 on Fort Street as a passenger boards in front of the Walgreens store in Wyandotte, MI, on April 3, 2014.
  12. Well, one does sort-of exist, which currently consists of SMART, DDOT (in Detroit proper) and AATA (Washtenaw County). Techinically, it is possible to ride on all three agencies...for example, if you wanted to take just transit buses from Detroit to Ann Arbor, you would just take DDOT route #25 to Fort Street and Outer Drive, then use your DDOT transfer when boarding SMART route #125 (or if you're lucky and ride during the weekday rush, then just board #125 in downtown Detroit), then ride that all the way to either Detroit Metro Airport terminal and finally, board the AATA's "Airride" service, pay the full fare for that service and ride that all the way to the Blake Transit Center in downtown Ann Arbor. But, if this RTA wants to fully serve all of southeastern Michigan, then the People Mover, U-M's transit service, BWAT (Port Huron) and Lake Erie Transit in Monroe must also join in, plus, LET needs to launch at least one route to either Metro Airport or the Downriver suburb of Trenton (both of which already have SMART service), because, as of right now, it literally has no connection to any other transit system I mentioned.
  13. Update the following on the DDOT roster: 1201-1242 are 40' diesel Gillig Low Floors. "TBD" should be replaced by 1243-1246 and are 40' hybrid Gillig Low Floors. Update the following on the SMART roster: 3003-3005 are NOT Gillig BRTs, just regular 40' hybrid Gillig Low Floors with the BRT front. Add the following to the SMART roster: 3006-3008 are 2013 40' hybrid Gillig Low Floors with the BRT front. And remove the following from the SMART route list, since they were all discontinued in December 2011: #135 Southshore Express #145 Carlysle #150 Allen-Wick #190 Taylor Flyer #202 Romulus #245 Cherry Hill #265 Warren Road #305 Grand River #385 Orchard Lake #559 Auburn Hills/Roseville
  14. I just visited Ann Arbor today. Below is #461, a 2011 40-foot hybrid Gillig BRT, operating route #7. #461 was the first of ten Gillig BRTs that were delivered to the AATA in 2011.
  15. Well, that, plus blurriness, is why I consider this photo I took today of an AATA Gillig BRT a fail (but it's still my very first photo of an AATA vehicle!). Plus, sorry for double-posting, I just didn't had to urge to mess up the post above.
  16. Sorry for being late, but here's my last photo of 2013: SMART #22330 operates route #160 on Fort Street in Southgate, MI, on December 26, 2013. I'll tell you what, #22330 may be 12 years old now...
  17. Here's two from June 2013: SMART #23308: The entire thing is shifted a bit too high. I've already posted another photo of this taken a few seconds later back when I first joined (over on the SMART thread), but I uploaded this to give you a better look at the destination sign. SMART #23361: The "E" in "WYANDOTTE" is cut off for some reason. In addition, every rear destination sign on the entire SMART fleet has been broken for a few years (blame it on those brutal Michigan winters and potholes!), as a result, it may be interesting to see some of them, with permanently-stuck flip-dot displays!
  18. And now, here's a new one from November 2013: I attempted to get a photo of DDOT #1245, a 2012 hybrid Gillig Low Floor, as it was leaving the Rosa Parks Transit Center. What you see below was the result of that photo. Therefore, that makes it the second DDOT hybrid bus to be the subject of my failed photographs.
  19. I doubt #2320 is still there now (it has been months since filming ceased), but I found out shortly afterwards that the filming crew turned #2320 into a subway car from Hong Kong, to fit in with the Asian theme of that set.
  20. I wonder how CTA #2320 managed to end up in downtown Detroit as part of the "Transformers 4" filming set?
  21. I know this is a double post, but I have some new photos taken today that qualify, though, I am posting only two so far. I was in downtown Detroit driving to the "Transformers 4" filming set. As I crossed Woodward Avenue, a DDOT Nova Bus RTS (operating route #53) and a 2010 DDOT New Flyer D40LF (operating route #23) were waiting next to each other behind several cars. I tried to get both, but this was all I got of both. That was probably because I zoomed out too far. Also in downtown Detroit, I was on M-10 north about to pass under Cobo Center and there was a Transit Windsor Orion VII operating the Tunnel Bus that was on the frontage road, but the photo I got of it turned out like you'll see. But that was probably because I was driving fast.
  22. Below is a short history of transit service within the Detroit suburb of Wyandotte, MI (and my home city as well), mostly compiled from the 1985 history book Our Fame And Fortune in Wyandotte with text originally written in it in red with parts that I added in regular colors. Note: any mistakes shown in red were made by the writers, not me. And that's just a brief history of transit systems in this small suburb. Any questions? Did I post in the right area?
  23. All photos were taken on May 4, 2013. I was trying to get a photo of a 2010 DDOT New Flyer D40LF that was operating route #25 just west of downtown Detroit, but I only managed to get a side view, centered on a McDonald's advertisement. Later on, I tried to get a photo of DDOT #1244, a 2012 hybrid Gillig Low Floor, as it operated route #30, but both attempts failed.
  24. Well, will there ever be a dishwasher simulator or a refrigerator simulator? These two would be, in my opinion, the weirdest simulators in the world.
  25. I would like to become a wiki editor so that I can update the Detroit agency pages, plus I have several photos I've taken of their buses taken mostly since early 2011.
