I saw 314 as my father in law was taking me back to get tires and it said KMD on the rear sign. I guess there are some that are being assigned there.

Yes but not very many as they are splitting with xe60. Maybe between 6 and 7. We are at 321 or higher with the xn40's.

I believe they are up to 316, possibly higher than that. I believe there will be a split order of 13 artics (split between XN and XE60). MTS will probably order some XN40's for South Bay, and possibly East County division (as they have some ex South Bay Gillig's). Maybe even Kearny Mesa division but that could be for the next order.

While going northbound on i-15, I saw 7611 (xe40) going southbound on a flatbed. I guess these are the 13 electric buses that are going to South Bay.

I saw 302 on Monday so they are in service as of now.

South Bay is getting around 13 electric Xcelsior.

I think some might be for contracted ops but who knows what the fleet markup is.

13 40' Xcelsior charge buses are going into service next month. Plan is to also donate a bunch of C40LFR's to LA Metro for the Olympics. This is for a supplemental bus service and these buses will help out. I might have spotted one on interstate 15 overpass bridge while I was driving my dad home from the store.

SDMTS is planning to buy 32 ADA paratransit vehicles in a few different classes. 10 LPG Class B (Starcraft AllStar on E-450 chassis) 20 Gasoline Class A (Starcraft Starlite on Transit Chassis) 2 Class Z1 ZEB vehicles (modified Ford Transit Van) https://www.sdmts.com/sites/default/files/2025-03-13-board-meeting-materials_0.pdf MTS is also looking to purchase 8949 Clairemont Mesa Blvd for a new and improved Kearny Mesa Transit center with 18 bus bays. There will also be a retail kiosk as well as a drivers rest area and some bathrooms (not sure if those are for the drivers). Right now the current transit center there is just a bunch of bus stops on Clairemont Mesa Blvd and Complex Dr with little to no amenities. Clairemont Mesa Blvd is a very busy street with some riders having to cross it in order to catch their buses. On Item 26, there will be an informational item about insourcing bus operations. This is just an informational item and nothing is being approved of today. MTS is looking at insourcing after Transdev had a strike in regards to working conditions and to sign a new bargaining agreement.

NCTD has ordered 6 Glaval Entourage F-550 buses to replace the Aero Elite units from MTS. https://lfportal.nctd.org/weblink/0/edoc/236978/Board Agenda Packet - February 20, 2025.pdf (pg. 83) MTS now has these buses as 3401-3424 as I spotted 3422 while doing some shopping in Poway.

I saw 1929 doing a 235 run at RB station while driving my car to the I-15 express lanes.
  14. https://gonctd.com/nctd-awarded-10-2-million-for-sprinter-rail-corridor/ NCTD Awarded a 10.2 Million USD grant for Sprinter Rail corridor Grant is for preliminary engineering and environmental clearance for a double tracked Sprinter from Escondido and San Marcos. 3.6 miles of double tracking, 3 new bridges, grade separation improvements and a new station platform. Plan is to eventually add about 9.5 miles of Double tracking which would allow the sprinter to run at 15 minute frequencies instead of 30 minutes (hourly on early and late night weekends). There are also plans to modernize the signaling to PTC. Double tracking would also help freight operators move more freight when the Sprinter is not in service.
  15. I believe the Electric model is only available with the LF Plus (Beluga) look.

New Flyer as they had a better tech score. Plus the Gillig contract has expired with the 2200s being the last ones.

New 40' buses are coming FY25 with 38 buses being ordered (10 will be ZEB).
  18. NCTD will keep the Coaster Connection buses at MTS Copley Park Division but use a carpool to report from West Division in Oceanside.

MTS is planning a new Owl bus service that would supplement the Blue Line when it is not running (11p-5a). They are doing a survey to see which stations should be a part of this new route.

It appears that those lfr buses are for the San Diego International airport rental car shuttle in addition to their other buses including Gillig, proterra and eldorado National. They were painted white and someone but the graphics on them. I guess they are not from LA charter bus lines. Make sense that they were coming down on the 15.

I saw 2 white c40lfr buses on the I 15. Not sure if MTS is leasing some used buses until new ones arrive. Perhaps they are going to a service center in San Diego? Edit: It looks like they are most likely from LA Charter bus lines. Not sure why their buses are down in San Diego. Maybe there is an event or just needed service, even though there are some fine service options that are probably closer to them than SD.

I saw a document at the MTS Executive committee and it says the 1900's are indeed KMD based though only 24 ordered. Maybe there are more of them but idk.

Due to Interlock issues, the 1900 fleet has mainly been pulled from service and is at CCW. Hopefully, they will be fixed soon and back in service.

I saw 2907 on Route 20. I guess some South bay buses are being transferred back to Imperial Ave Division though South Bay does have some ex 600 series buses as 2900s.
  25. I think I might have seen 2501 or a 2500 when I was driving back from somewhere in Escondido.
