I'm glad they removed that "Toronto welcomes you...." message on the sides of the PCC, it looked tacky and cluttered up the vehicle. Now they just need to put proper roll signs back on.

Add Rosedale to the "all bets are off" list. To put it in perspective, the 50-odd story new Four Seasons nearby was proposed, constructed, and will be most likely completed before the elevator at Rosedale will be.

Really? You mean on the Yonge line? It's hard to tell, as there's always litter strewn on the track level and under the platforms. Either the TTC isn't cleaning it, or people in this city are becoming even more disgusting pigs with each passing month.

College is particularly bad for that, as there's a real landfill under the southbound platform. The TTC is the worst I've ever seen for this kind of thing, I don't even see that much trash under platforms in New York. Disgraceful, and then they wonder where all these fires come from.

I think you mean there are more assholes committing criminal vandalism now. The Bloor line seems plagued with lowlifes from end to end, really don't see that on YUS at all.

I was going to add that on the system this morning, that delay was announced by an automated system that actually told people to take alternate routes and reminded people of longer wait times. I've never heard this before, is this new?

I would not be surprised to see Ford ask the province to upload the TTC to Metrolinx. It would take a huge chunk out of the city budget, and it would give the province the ability to do what it wants and integrate the TTC fully into GO, Presto, etc.

A poster over at Urban Toronto who is apparently a TTC operator is claiming that the new TRs will *not* have air conditioning outside of the operator's cab. Can anyone confirm this? If true, this would be absolutely ridiculous.

It appears that this new batch has the new, wretched Ontario logo on them. I'm hoping that the first batch of locomotives that were delivered retain the old logo that were painted on them.

Didn't get the bus number, but with the shuffling of equipment this past weekend, 28 Davisville has been assigned Fishbowls, and I've noticed Orion VII NG's on Bayview and Mount Pleasant now as well.

On Bayview this morning there was an Orion VII southbound at Millwood whose sign read: TPS-TFS-EMS. I can only assume it was a training vehicle for Toronto Police, Toronto Fire Service and Emergency Medical Services crews.

Is there any reason why the TTC isn't thinking about putting back trash cans on the platform levels of subway stations? I've never seen the stations look worse, with litter left beside and under every bench, and increasing amounts of debris finding its way onto the track level. It's disgusting, and the system is looking worse and worse. I've been to NYC and DC and those systems have cans on platform levels despite terrorism concerns (the reason the TTC took them out). Is there *any* indication this boneheaded, stupendously idiotic decision will ever be reversed?

I just get frustrated when I see pics of other systems, and they seem to be much better kept than ours. I don't see why it's so unreasonable to expect clean, well-maintained stations. I know, I know, lack of funding...but really, in only three years I've seen a real decline, despite increased subsidy and ridership. So someone's not doing their job. I'd love for fellow forumers to take some pics and post them (and send them) to the Commission and demand they get their act together.

Last night I rode the subway for the first time in about three years, and I was really suprised and disappointed at the amount and prevalence of litter in the stations, and most disappointingly, on track level. Does anyone know why all the trash bins were removed, and when? And does anyone know if the TTC cleans the track level, the trough down the centre of the tracks, and the areas under the overhang of the platforms on a regular basis? I was thoroughly put off by the appearance of all this trash, and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this as well. It really makes the system look squalid and unkept.
