  1. I wonder which routes? Suggestion: cut 80% of school routes and ameliorate the service of nearby bus lines to those schools. Consider putting taxi chits for late night local routes.
  2. Holy man! http://www.ottawasun.com/News/OttawaAndReg...036816-sun.html
  3. I live in Buck. However, I am now must of the time in Orléans. (And PET was the most hated guy in Canada....except in Ontario!)
  4. Français (my first language), English, Español and a little bit of 国语. 我也可以发言,并写一点点国语,我学到的一所大学的过程中。 I can also bone da Ali G lingo wiv me boys from da hood.
  5. Bof, it's been the third election is four years and the my fourth election since I had the voting age. Basically, up to date this is my thoughs: 1)Dion is very weak as a leader and the Liberal Party finances are not so well (look at their plane!). Also, people rembember the Sponsorship Scandal. 2)The NDP will have all their nice ideas and projects, but at which cost, if they get ''elected'' of course! 3)The Greens have great ideas, but I must say that their party seemed too centered on their leader which lacks substance and they are considered as many people with an image of an one-issue party. 4)Basically, even through the tories are not perfect, I must say that they are just bad because they are focusing on not making too many crazy promises in a period where the economy is slowing. BTW, my MP is transport minister. Also, as per the leader's debate with May, the past says that a party must gets an ELECTED member to have a place in the leader's debate. The Reform and the Bloc both had elected members in the House of Commons in by-elections to have their place in the 1993 debate. The last time when this happened was in 1984. If May was a candidate in an urban BC riding, maybe? However, except for a major twist, the Greens with have no MP for the next election. Bob Rae and the $/%?$/ Rae Days in Ontario! No wonder, after that the NDP is the third party in Ontario and remained in that position since. The only provinces where NDPers were in gouvernement were provinces with a very marginal or non-existant third party Liberal Party (Manitoba and Saskatchewan). Even then, Calvert was kicked out last year by the Sask Party in Saskatchewan. Jackpot! Nice idea!
  6. Less competition means higher prices in the airline industry! I wonder who will be next?
  7. Many subway systems in Russia and in the former USSR are still using tokens. I actually have a token from Moscow and one from St.Petersburg (formely Leningrad). Boston was using tokens until a few years ago. They actually have them on my last trip to Boston in 2000. Atlanta and the DASH system (in LA) are using tokens. Chicago was using them until the mid 90's and NYC until 3-4 years ago. Also, many transit system in Canada until the 60's were using tokens. I have one from the Hull,QC streetcar system.
  8. Glad you're back, Mathieu! I must say at first glance that this is a pretty nice and accurate work. Are your old fantasy maps that were posted in your old website will be available again in the future? Please see my thread about night service for OC Transpo.
  9. A taxi ride from Downtown to Orléans is 35$-40$. Downtown to Kanata or Barrhaven is 40$-45$. And this without the tip! Also, I would better like to see less impaired drivers on our roads and this by only adding a few buses each night.
  10. Adding the 98 is not necessary as the service is only provided from appox. 5:30 to Midnight . The 94, 101, 102 and the 106 and is also considered a part of the Transitway system. About the overnight service, I was at one point surprised that this was not a priority for OC Transpo. Many smaller cities (in the U.S, in Europe, in Asia) which are less important and have less transit ridership than Ottawa have a 24 hour service. We are not taking about a small hick town here, we are talking about the capital of Canada and the 4th largest city in Canada. Basically, having an overnight service on main bus routes (and I am thinking about the main crosstown routes) will be a good idea because: -I personally know many people who work at night and they use their car, even through they are living at a 5-10 minute walk from a Transitway station. They would like to take the bus at night because they have a pass, however they cannot because they don't want to wait an hour outside freezing at minus twenty in the winter. -Many people who are going at bars or clubs take their car (sometimes in the influence of alcool) because they think that taking a taxi is too expensive and they know that the buses are not running at 2 or 3 am. Also, I have a question about OC's service in the late evening. Because the Transitway buses take the Rideau Street in lieu of the Mac Bridge late at night, do the Rideau Centre (as a passageway) is open all night? Also, do some transitway stations close at night? I know that access is prohibited in the O-Train stations between Midnight and 6:00 as there is a sign at Bayview telling that.
  11. However, I talked a few minutes to the clerk who was working at the booth (a fellow student at my University who is doing this as a summer job) and she told me that (believe it or not) their stock was limited at St.Laurent until early next week!
  12. Great News! They have just recieved printed copies of the map at the booth at St.Laurent. I recommand you to go get them quick as they don't seem to have many of them! So, I have one right now in front of me. The cover is blue with a logo for the 25th anniversary of the Transitway.
  13. I must say that the numbering scheme is far from easy!
  14. Do you think that the ''terminals'' in Radisson and Angrignon are adequate? Also, what's left at the Terminus Laval at Henri-Bourassa?
