  1. TTC 7059 broke down on the 512 the St. Clair station and is blocking the usual entrance. As a result the 512 buses are boarding at the lower level platform
  2. I’ve rode some of the 8620-8632 buses a few times and there’s no wifi decals on any of them. I was curious and checked on one of them for a wifi connection on my phone a few weeks ago (don’t remember the unit number) and nothing came up- so I’m pretty sure some/all no longer have wifi
  3. I’ve seen several via rail employees accept tips on the corridor trains I’ve been on as well, usually given by older people who need help getting their bags or getting up/down the steps at their station
  4. Another day, another 512 replacement bus getting its mirror clipped and knocked off. This time it’s 8841 at St. Clair and Oakwood
  5. TTC 8006, 8012 and 8013 were passing by St. Clair and Bathurst not too long ago. Probably headed to hillcrest
  6. It caused big delays yesterday. Train 67 ended up being hooked up to train 55 to Toronto and arrived about 5 hours late there (55 was about 2.5 hours late)
  7. I lived in the eastern part of Markham for about 15 years. Back when I was in high school there was definitely no rule about 12 standees- I used to take those school special routes to/from school and they were jam packed every day. But outside of that, I can’t say I have encountered too many “too full” buses lol. I used to also take the express routes quite frequently. In the afternoon I know Miller usually has a supervisor at finch station monitoring the passenger loads. The 303, at least pre-pandemic, seemed to be the busiest of the express routes from finch every afternoon and usually they’d only allow for a fully seated load, though this was back when that route ran every 5-10 minutes. The introduction of the 305 express route also cut in a bit to its ridership, so most days it doesn’t get overly busy. Pre pandemic in the mornings when I took the express routes, I never encountered more than a fully-seated load but maybe I was just lucky. I’ve also never seen or heard of an off-route express bus taking the side streets rather than the 407. All in all I think YRT probably does a pretty good job scheduling those routes so they don’t get over-capacity Do you know if GO enforces that same rule of 12 standees only on highway routes?
  8. The timing of this article (and whatever other rumours were out there) is pretty interesting, given a week later Lynx announced they were bankrupt. Wonder how substantiated the rumours were
  9. The whole situation seems pretty shitty for passengers. Sure those who paid by credit cards can get their money back, but not sure about debit cards. Plus then having to scramble and pay for new flights (probably at a much higher cost), there certainly don’t seem to be much of a protection for those affected by the shutdown. Meanwhile the executives and don’t really face any repercussions I flew on them once about a year ago from Halifax to Toronto. Nothing to really complain about during it, it was fine for a 2.5 hour flight. I just hope Flair doesn’t suffer the same fate, given the failures of pretty much every other discount airline that tries to operate in Canada
  10. Thanks for sharing. Per that group it seems like another venture set will enter service around early April too!
  11. Just wanted to share this site I had come across. It gives the information of departures and the train cars operating it. There appears to be another Venture set which entered service and had Toronto seeing more Venture departures. 43-646 and 45-668 were operated by Venture train sets today, at least per the site below, which is a change from prior weeks. Doesn’t appear Via’s site has been updated yet with the updated Venture schedules https://traincar.info
  12. There’s a lot of errors. What interns did they use to write these schedule changes lol
  13. TTC 3208 did a trip on the 91 Woodbine this evening. It was covering for 3757 which returned to the garage after its first trip
  14. Thanks for the info everyone! I never knew there was a crossover there
  15. This weekend there’s no service between Davisville and Lawrence stations. That’s the first time I’ve heard of Davisville being used for one of these closures, usually it’s St. Clair. Any idea how it’s gonna work? Unload at Davisville and then use the Eglinton crossover?
  16. TTC 5319-5318-5317-5316-5314-5315 is a trainset on line 2 today
  17. Random question I had, hoping this is the best place to ask. I was curious thinking of this the other day based on other discussions around crew sign ups… Let’s say you are an operator who is currently on the overnight shift. You have a 9pm-5am shift for this current board period. Next board period, you are lucky enough to move on up and work while the sun is up and now you sign up for a daytime run. Would it be possible for your new shift start to at, say, 7am on Sunday mornings? If so, what happens to for that first day of the board period? Seeing as you worked from Saturday 9pm-Sunday morning 5am, what happens at 7am Sunday? I’m sure there are restrictions in rest time that would make that impossible. Do you just get a “free” day off and the Sunday morning shift is covered by a spare board/RAD? from my understanding on previous discussions on crew sign ups, it’s strictly seniority based. So that example could be a possibility. But maybe there’s restrictions in place to what an op can sign up for (I.e. if you’re doing an overnight run, you can’t sign up next board for a morning run and can only sign up for a late afternoon one)
  18. Maybe noteworthy, but probably not. I saw one of their buses (I believe it was 1003) in downtown Toronto at about 5:30pm yesterday and it was displaying Barrie on its destination sign. I checked their website and it didn’t show anything about trips to barrie, so it could’ve just been a charter or something like that.
  19. TTC 8641 on route 512 St. Clair got its mirror taken off at St. Clair and Weston Rd. In all honesty, this is becoming a common occurrence. I have been on 3 buses since October which have had their mirrors clipped by other vehicles (mostly trucks) when trying to pass the buses because the roads are super tight. Add this happening all the time with the other daily occurrence when buses can’t fit through parked/stopped vehicles along the St. Clair because of the narrow lanes and traffic congestion…I really miss the 512 streetcars
  20. I haven’t seen it noted anywhere, and it’s actually pretty hard to find on the ttc website, so I’ll post it here. since I believe last Thursday there was an emergency road closure on King at Sumach which has led to all 504 streetcars short turning at church. 501B buses are operating along King to River St. along with supplemental 504C buses. I think this will last till the end of the week- I saw reports of a sinkhole which led to this diversion
