  1. In my opinion, It’s a design flaw. There’s not much lining between the engine and the passenger area which makes the rear of the interior hot. Heat gets into the bus also from the lack of engine ventilation.

New flyer has way more vents and a better fan system than nova. Maybe nova can design a fan system that is lower and closer to the engine to help the heat escape before it rises into the bus?

I don’t think it’s anything to do with the air conditioning unit, I’ve ridden on 1511 during a hot day with it’s new Denso unit and it didn’t feel any different from the others.

  2. I spotted a Milton Transit arboc in brantford about 15 minutes ago. Highway 24 headed towards Cambridge. It had a more flat rear end unlike most arbocs I’ve seen. Possibly a new one being delivered?

Well, something is up, because a Delaware is on Albright right now.

Update: Don't see anything on the Fire Dept. Twitter. Police activity, maybe? It would not be out of place down there.

There was a person in crisis situation at the building at Quigley and Greenhill. Luckily police were able to get him help and the street reopened around 11pm.

Have all of the new, New Flyer XN60 buses been delivered? I was by the Upper James yard the other day and it looked like close to a dozen arcs sitting at the top of the hill.

Yes all 11 XN60’s are on property.

I Havent saw any new vicinity buses yet though.

Seems they are behind on orders again.

1004 also has the same new digital infotainment screen setup as on 1002.

Buses that have the screens are - 1001-1004, 1202 and artic 936. I did see 936 missing one last time though as it was vandalized.

  6. Buses 1102 to 1104 and 1420-1421 have onboard Free Wi-Fi. I heard they will be adding more shortly. Also Arboc 1022 apparently had a pretty serious crash most likely putting it out of service for good. I’m wondering if there’s any photos around of damage 1022 sustained?

It definitely is. I’ll see if I can find out more.

I heard a rumour that there is a shortage of vehicles come September, that even with the new ones they can’t meet demand. Therefore a few 0500s will be coming back on the road in September. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Hopped on the bus back into Dundas after work and noticed this:

One rear, one front behind the driver. It was on XD40 1202. I'm 85% sure ive been on this bus in the past week and it didnt have the screens then... Is this some kind of trial project to generate more income? The screens played a mix of advertisements, CBC news headlines and local municipal information.

These screens are from Streetseen Media, they’ve been around for at least a year now. (Maybe more).

    Buses with ad screens are: 1202, 1001-1004, 936 (3 screens on 936).

Yep 1202 would’ve had it last week when you rode it.

When it comes time for the trolley replicas (70 & 71) to retire, will they be replaced by standarded buses for the 99 or will they acquire a different style of a replica trolley?

I’m guessing they will keep them longer since they aren’t regular service buses. Besides they only have roughly 80,000 KM on each. But good question What they will be replaced with when they are done.

I was waiting on that confirmation from fleet. I’ve also been told the Vicinity’s will be numbered in the 1700’s.

Any word on how they’re coming along with the installation of the equipment? I had heard 6 weeks or so the first ones should be hitting the road.

I have a strong feeling the first batch of 5 will be numbered 1720-1724 and the second batch of 6 be numbered 1820-1825. I’m just speculating here, but it doesn’t seem unreasonable considering the Arbocs being 1020-1024.

Also, the 1700/1800 buses come with no engine door fan (vent in rear door), the fan has been moved to the driver side. Can be seen on buses 1618-25 ish as well, as they are retrofitted.  (Door vent remains, but fan has been moved)

Also my source told me that the new buses have USB charge ports through out the bus, even the front wheel well with the window seat has one.

Lastly, interior advertisements can now be placed on both sides of the bus interior. Similar to the recent TTC novas.

According to 55 0930 worked the 73 this afternoon.  Can anyone verify? Perhaps the tweet of 0703 was related to the 0701-series and not the entire 36-bus fleet of 30-footers.

Just the older ones they say here. Surprised they didn’t use an 0700 photo.

Could be. I was going based on what I was told by fleet management.

I also heard a rumour the order was enlarged to 40 buses instead of 30. Maybe 20 x 1700 and 20 x 1800? Maybe Seashore would be able to clarify. I know he mentioned 30, but could numbers have changed since then?

Just from working out around how much each bus will cost in another article for vicinity with a bunch of orders totalled up. I think HSR will have about 11 more vicinitys coming in, but thats just my guess.

I did confirm that they are 30ft and not their 35ft counterpart. Part of makes me wonder what we need 15 30 footers for? Maybe the 12, 18, 52A, then add 6/7/8 to those?
