Introduced in 1996, the Van Hool T2100 Series features an updated stream-line design and more engine choices. It is available as a 40 ft. (T2140E) or extended 45 ft. (T2145E) version. Whereas T8 and T9 series were almost exclusively powered by Cummins diesel engines, the T2100 became available with Detroit Diesel and CAT engines in addition to the Cummins engine. A conversion shell version of the T2100 series was known as the S2100.
The T2100 originally featured a three piece windshield. This was later became two pieces and the headlight assemblies were revised with individual projector lamps in lieu of rectangular sealed beam headlights. Also part of the update was a consolidated driver console. In August 2008, the T2100 was restyled with a lower front fascia similar to the C2000 Series. This model added an E at the end of the model designation (T2145 became the T2145E for example). Around this time the rear was restyled as well. The tail lights were updated from the stacked horizontal rectangle design to the design used in Europe. This design has a red square light fixture with three rows of two smaller rectangles for the brake lights and turn signals. A further revision occured later in 2010 with the addition of a chrome strip between the tail lights above the license plate. The rear window has a slight curve at the bottom and has lines running from either side curving down to the tail lights in a v-shape.
The rows of flourescent lighting running alongside the luggage racks was replaced in 2005 with rows of small round LED fixtures which also have green LED for night lights. More squared luggage racks which accomodated larger video monitors would later become available as an option. Woodgrain flooring, which has began to become popular on coaches, was made an option for 2011 along with the Sky View glass roof an option.
