Van Hool C3045
|Van Hool C3045|
|Years of manufacture||2010|
The Van Hool C3045 is a 45 foot long low floor commuter coach. It's design is unique in that it has the front end of a low floor Van Hool transit bus and a much higher rear section that is a similar design to a Van Hool motorcoach. The C3045 was designed in co-operation with AC Transit of California to develop a specialized intercity bus.
A request for proposals was made in May 2008 for the purchase of "45-foot low entry suburban style commuter buses". Interest was expressed by several manufacturers, but the only proposal received was from Van Hool. A rendering appeared on the Van Hool Web site in late 2009 and it was indicated the model was under development. By the end of February 2010, the first prototype was completed and ready for delivery to the United States. This coach was tested and decalled for AC Transit, but never entered service. And on February 22, 2011, it was put up for auction for $200,000. The page on the C3045 on Van Hools Web site has been taken down, leading one to believe the project is abandoned.
