This route services Avenue Road north of Eglinton Avenue West. It also serves Eglinton Avenue West from Duplex Avenue to Avenue Road before turning north at Avenue Road. The northern terminal is Highway 401, and the southern terminal is Eglinton Station for its one branch, 61A. It was previously known as the 61 Nortown, with the northern portion being done by former TTC route 1 Armour Heights.

History

• November 23, 2008 - Service increase during weekday peak periods, 9 minutes in the morning and 12 minutes in the afternoon. Service increase for early morning and evening Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Overall service improvement from 35 minutes to 30 minutes.
• May 9, 2011 - Service removed due to system-wide cuts after 10pm on Sundays and Holidays.
