Toronto Transit Commission 4260-4274

Toronto Transit Commission 4260-4274 were 1944 CC&F PCC A-4 class air-electric streetcars, built new for the TTC. Their body shells were built by St. Louis Car Company in the US, and finished by CC&F in Montreal. This group was one of the wartime follow-up orders after the initial A1-class cars.

Most of this series of air-electric PCC's were retired in the mid-late 1960's with the opening of the new Bloor-Danforth subway line in 1966 and its subsequent extensions in 1968, with the last of the A4 series retired in 1970. Most of the retired A4 cars were part of a group sold to Alexandria, Egypt, and others not resold were eventually scrapped.
