New Lantao Bus

In the beginning, Kowloon Motor Bus provided public transit service (using 5 Dennis Pax buses) on New Lantau Island until 1965. It sold the right to operate on this island to small local companies in 1965. The small companies continue to provide public transit services until 1973. In that year, the Hong Kong Government reformed the bus operation in New Lantau. As a result all the existing public transit operators merged and created a new company called New Lantau Bus Company Limited. Initially, this company operated 30 vehicles. Due to narrow roads in New Lantau, the choices of vehicles were limited. In 1980, NLB acquired 9 brand new Leyland Victory 2 from Kowloon Motor Bus. They were used to pick up passengers at Silvermind Bay. Later NLB acquired 6 additional second-hand Leyland Victory 2 from Kowloon Motor Bus.
