Edmonton Transit System route 98 was a pilot project route operated by Edmonton Transit System from Edmonton to Beaumont, AB. This route is no longer in operation.
With service to: Downtown, Mill Woods Town Centre, Beaumont
Route Details
Route 98 was one of the first major steps towards ETS having regional commuter operations. There were a few test runs (one occurred on August 21, 2003) before regular service commenced from September 2003 to February 2004. The bus serviced downtown and Mill Woods Town Centre in Edmonton before continuing on to Beaumont, AB where it looped around and then returned to Edmonton (similar to route 198). The service was terminated after the pilot project completed.
History
Beaumont Transportation Services was established in late 2002, and operated local service in Beaumont, AB. This service failed, so route 98 brought public transit back to the town south of Edmonton.
Interesting Facts
The ETS brochure for route 98 Beaumont was light green instead of the regular blue.
